We are currently seeking a Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) Practitioner to join our Behavioral Health department. As a CPST Practitioner, you’ll work directly with individuals to assess their needs, develop personalized care plans, and connect them with essential services and supports. Key Responsibilities

  • Adheres to the CareStar Rule in performance of job responsibilities.

  • Understands and complies with CareStar Policies and Procedures.

  • Maintains confidentiality as related to patient information. Any disclosures of confidential information made unlawfully outside the proper course of duty will be treated as a serious disciplinary offense.

  • Follows the Acceptable Use Policy while using any information systems owned or controlled by CareStar, Inc.

  • Maintains knowledge of Medicaid, of the behavioral health system and of community resources.

  • Develops and implements individualized treatment plans and interventions supporting recovery goals.

  • Coordinates and refer clients to community resources.

  • Provide skills training, coaching, and modeling in areas such as daily living, coping, communication, and social skills.

  • Support clients in crisis, including de-escalation and coordination with emergency or crisis services.

  • Engage families and natural supports as appropriate to enhance recovery outcomes.



Minimum Qualifications


  • Valid license or certification in a behavioral health field (e.g. LSW, LPC, MFT, RN, LISW, LPCC, LICDC) OR Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist, who possesses a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, counseling or a related field.

  • Knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders and recovery principles.

  • Understanding of community behavioral health systems, supports, and resources.

  • Skills in therapeutic engagement, communication and motivational approaches.

  • Experience working with individuals who qualify for program services.

  • Knowledge of issues affecting individuals served and community-based interventions/resources for those individuals.

  • Effective interpersonal (oral and written) skills to interact professionally and ethically with all age groups from a diverse population, including differing intellectual, cultural, ethnic, psychosocial and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Ability to utilize critical thinking and independent judgement, along with multiple points of data/input to identify issues, develop solutions, and exercise judgement to meet requirements.

  • Familiarity with suite of Microsoft Office programs.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects and be attentive to detail.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with respect for others, including consumers, co-workers and other professionals within a diverse work environment.

  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem solving skills and flexibility in relationship to job requirements.

  • Computer skills sufficient to enter and process consumer information, report preparation, and use CareStar’s website and email, and familiarity with suite of Microsoft Office programs.

  • Valid driver’s license and car insurance as required by State law.
