Purpose of the role

The Compensation Manager - USA/CAN is responsible for managing compensation governance, operations, compliance, and continuous improvement for the United States and Canada. This role ensures that compensation programs, salary structures, incentive plans, job evaluations, market benchmarking, and annual review processes are competitive, equitable, compliant, and aligned with Epiroc’s business objectives and talent strategy. The position partners closely with HR, Finance, International Compensation & Benefits (ICB), business leaders, and external providers to deliver high-quality compensation support, strengthen standardization across USA/CAN, and enhance the employee value proposition.

Core responsibilities / expectations

  • Manage compensation governance and operations for USA/CAN, ensuring consistent, fair, competitive, and compliant compensation practices aligned with global standards.
  • Maintain and administer compensation structures, salary ranges, incentive programs, allowances, and related compensation processes in line with global practices.
  • Oversee the annual salary review and merit cycle, including market benchmarking, budget coordination, salary recommendations, approvals, communication, and implementation follow-up.
  • Participate in global compensation projects or initiatives.
  • Own market analysis and compensation benchmarking to ensure competitiveness, internal equity, and alignment with business needs and talent attraction and retention objectives.
  • In partnership with ICB, participate in salary surveys for USA/CAN.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, ICB, and business leaders to provide guidance on compensation matters, including offers, promotions, salary adjustments, job leveling, retention cases, and organizational changes.
  • Serve as process owner for USA/CAN compensation documentation, controls, standard operating procedures, data quality, and reporting aligned with company requirements and the Integrated Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local labor, pay transparency, equal pay, tax, and reporting requirements in the United States and Canada, partnering with the HR Compliance Manager, if applicable.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present compensation reports, dashboards, trends, risks, and recommendations to HR and business leadership.
  • Support audits, internal controls, risk mitigation, documentation reviews, and remediation actions to ensure compensation processes are traceable, compliant, and audit-ready.
  • Partner with external survey providers, vendors, and internal systems teams to maintain accurate compensation data, market pricing tools, HRIS inputs, and compensation-related interfaces.
  • Support compensation transformation initiatives, including process harmonization, automation, data accuracy, policy alignment, and standardization across USA/CAN.
  • Develop and deliver communication, training, and guidance to HR teams and managers on compensation philosophy, processes, tools, timelines, and governance requirements.
  • Promote a culture of confidentiality, fairness, continuous improvement, customer orientation, data accuracy, compliance, and adherence to Epiroc’s Code of Conduct and sustainability principles.

Knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in compensation and/or total rewards, preferably supporting the United States and Canada.
  • Experience in a large company with global and regional compensation structures
  • Experience working in a complex, highly matrixed environment
  • Business HR (Generalist, HRBP or HR Manager) experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices, job evaluation, salary structures, market pricing, incentive programs, annual salary review cycles, and internal equity analysis.
  • Knowledge of compensation-related regulations, including pay equity, pay transparency, wage and hour, and local reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated experience conducting market benchmarking, analyzing compensation data, preparing recommendations, and translating insights into practical business decisions.
  • Experience improving compensation processes, implementing controls, documenting procedures, and supporting operational transformation or system enhancement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting audits, internal controls, compliance reviews, governance routines, and issue remediation plans.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; experience with HRMS, compensation planning tools, market survey platforms, case management, or ticketing systems is preferred.
  • Fluent English is required; French is an asset for Canada-related compensation coordination.
  • Role may be based in Garland, Texas; or Mississauga, Canada.

  • Business-oriented mindset, capable of connecting compensation decisions with talent attraction, retention, engagement, cost discipline, and organizational effectiveness.
