Compliance and Risk Manager

The Manager, Compliance and Risk will spearhead WadzPay’s compliance function, drive compliance and risk management strategy, partner with senior business and operational leaders, and serve as a point of contact for regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Track regulatory changes and implement a compliance program
  • Build and update internal manuals, policies, and procedures
  • Design and implement a risk management process
  • Conduct regular risk assessments
  • Act as the primary contact for regulators in multiple countries
  • Manage and coordinate license application processes
  • Prepare and submit quarterly compliance reports to the Board
  • Ensure regulatory reporting obligations are fulfilled
  • Coordinate escalations and suspicious transaction or activity reporting
  • Perform regulatory and AML risk assessments
  • Serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer
  • Conduct regular AML and CTF training for staff

Requirements

  • Broad understanding of regulatory requirements for virtual asset activities including broker-dealer, custody, settlement, and transfer
  • Knowledge of virtual asset regulations in South Africa, the EU, and Singapore
  • Experience liaising with regulators
  • Proficiency drafting internal policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of financial crimes, ethics, marketing, outsourcing, conflicts of interest, and risk management
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant compliance experience in financial services
  • Exposure to payment and virtual asset sectors
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Experience establishing compliance programs with global teams
