Compliance Officer
You develop, implement, and maintain an effective anti-money laundering control framework. You design AML policies and procedures, manage financial crime controls, investigate suspicious activity, submit regulatory reports, assess risks, oversee KYC onboarding, approve high-risk relationships, train employees, and support the long-term compliance strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain an anti-money laundering control framework
- Design and monitor AML policies and procedures
- Manage the financial crime control function
- Design and implement procedures for preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing
- Develop monitoring and reporting processes for senior management
- Investigate and resolve potentially suspicious activity and transactions
- Design and implement AML/CFT/PF training programs
- Analyze financial crime patterns and apply appropriate controls
- Manage and supervise the compliance department
- Escalate AML and financial crime risks to the Board
- Investigate suspicious activity reports and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports to FINTRAC
- Submit financial crime and compliance reports to regulatory authorities and the Board
- Respond to information requests from FINTRAC and enforcement agencies
- Assess risks for new or amended products, jurisdictions, and sales channels
- Oversee client onboarding through KYC verification
- Approve high-risk business relationships
- Oversee management information and reporting metrics
- Assist with the long-term compliance strategy
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Resident in Canada or able to relocate within a reasonable distance of the company headquarters
- 4-5+ years of compliance experience or 1+ year as a Compliance Officer in an AML role
- Knowledge and experience with AML/CFT/PF regulatory regimes in Canada
- Experience with cryptocurrency-related compliance processes
- Familiarity with compliance monitoring tools and controls such as Chainalysis
- Fluent English
