Composite CNC Operator I

Position Overview:
Produces composite components and assemblies by operating and optimizing CNC cutting equipment and performing advanced fabrication, trimming, fitting, bonding, and assembly processes. Ensures compliance with engineering specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards while maintaining production records, equipment, materials, and supplies. Supports continuous improvement efforts, assists with troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and provides guidance and training to less experienced team members.
Essential Functions:
- Read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, CAD models, work orders, specifications, and production schedules to determine manufacturing requirements
- Create, modify, and maintain flat patterns from 3D CAD models for composite, metal, and other manufacturing applications
- Develop and optimize nests and cutting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize waste
- Create, maintain, and revise manufacturing programs, cutting files, templates, and supporting production documentation
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements prior to production release
- Excellent Organizational and time-management skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to company safety procedures, policies, and regulations
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Collaborate with Engineering to identify and resolve design-for-manufacturing issues and improve product manufacturability
- Design and incorporate assembly features such as keys, locators, alignment tabs, and seams to improve assembly accuracy and repeatability
- Assist in the fabrication and assembly of composite structures as required
- Document programming activities, process improvements, and production support efforts
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
