Computer Network Technician

Summary of Job Purpose: Installs, repairs, and provides technical support for Brookhaven School District computers, peripherals, networks, and the users.

Requirements:

• Minimum of an associate degree in computer/network related field
• Experience in the listed responsibilities
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with a team as well as work independently
• Have good communication skills
• Prior experience working with computers, equipment, networks and software
• The following certifications would be beneficial: CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+), Apple, Cisco

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Director of Technology and other technicians to plan and maintain network, equipment, technology policies, hardware, software,
• Provides technical support and training to staff
• Respond to technology request tickets and make sure request records are up-to-date.
• Install/maintain/troubleshoot/repair all technology including hardware, software, peripherals (smartboards, projectors, document cameras, printers)
• Install /maintain/troubleshoot/repair network hardware and wireless networks
  1. Have knowledge of TCP/IP usage
  2. Have knowledge of routing and switching
• Assist with administration of network directory service including user accounts and network
• Participate in continuing education in effort to stay current with district
