JOB TITLE: Computer Support Technician

SUPERVISOR: Chief Information Officer

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt

WORK YEAR: 261 Days

APPROVED: 3/8/2023

BASIC FUNCTION: Provide continuous access of current technology to the students and staff of the Breckinridge County Schools.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

• Local Area Network administration
• Reporting and assisting with Wide Area Network problems
• Promoting and maintaining electronic communications
• Promoting the advancement of technology in our schools and community
• Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING:

• Understands Microcomputer Operating Systems
• General knowledge of operating Computer Application Programs
• Works independently with little supervision
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
• Appropriate apparel for the day’s activities
• Utilizes time appropriately with good attendance

ABILITIES:

• Set up and maintenance of LAN workstations
• Set up and maintenance of network resources
• Support inservice training on technology
• Inventory of system resources
• Support of service request system
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships

The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights. The work may require activities involving driving automotive equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law
• Must possess a valid Kentucky driver's license.
• Has met the requirements for criminal records check and child abuse and neglect check as specified by Kentucky State Law
• Must have had training and/or experience in networking computer operations
• Must have one to two years of Intel based hardware/software installation experience
• Preferred experience with identity management platforms (Google Admin Console, Microsoft Entra, and/or Rapid Identity) and campus physical technology infrastructure, including door access control, IP camera surveillance, and audio/video systems.
