Conflict Group Support Specialist
We are seeking a Conflict Group Support Specialist to join our Risk Management & Conflicts Team in our Ontario or Montreal offices.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the firm's conflict clearance processes are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with professional, ethical, and regulatory obligations.
The successful candidate will work closely with lawyers, legal assistants, and members of the Risk Management team to support the role of the General Counsel's office through the conflicts group. Bilingualism (English and French) is required, as this role supports lawyers and business professionals across the firm nationally and requires effective communication with stakeholders in both official languages.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting conflict searches and conflict clearances for new matters and engagements with Intapp conflicts, received through the firm's intake systems and conflicts inbox.
Reviewing conflict reports, assessing search results, and identifying potential legal, commercial, and confidentiality issues for further assessment.
Escalating complex, sensitive, or high-risk conflict matters to senior members of the Risk Management team.
Coordinating, implementing, and monitoring ethical walls, confidentiality screens, and other internal restrictions where required, using Intapp Walls.
Supporting the onboarding of lawyers and professionals by coordinating lateral hire conflict reviews and related compliance requirements.
Reviewing client transfer lists and matters worked on by incoming lawyers to identify potential conflicts and confidentiality concerns.
Preparing conflict memoranda and maintaining appropriate documentation relating to lateral hire and mobility reviews.
Conducting conflict and confidentiality reviews of articles, publications, presentations, and other external communications.
Reviewing content for references to clients, matters, or confidential information and obtaining necessary approvals prior to publication.
Performing corporate and organizational research to identify affiliates, subsidiaries, related entities, and other relevant relationships.
Assisting lawyers and legal assistants with conflict-related inquiries and providing guidance on conflict clearance procedures and best practices.
Maintaining accurate conflict-related records, databases, and tracking systems.
Assisting with audits, reporting initiatives, data integrity projects, and continuous improvement initiatives related to conflicts and risk management.
Supporting the Conflicts Team during absences, peak periods, and special projects as required.
Performing other duties and contributing to projects assigned.
What You'll Bring:
Post-secondary education in law, business administration, risk management, compliance, information management, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in conflicts, legal administration, risk management, compliance, or a related function within a law firm or professional services environment.
Bilingualism (English and French) is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to assess complex information and exercise sound judgment.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Knowledge of legal conflicts, confidentiality obligations, and professional responsibility requirements is considered an asset.
Experience working with legal technology platforms, conflict databases, document management systems, and matter intake tools is considered an asset.
Experience with Aderant, Intapp Walls, ethical wall administration, and legal conflicts management processes is considered a valuable asset.
Familiarity with law firm risk management, confidentiality screening, and lateral hire onboarding procedures is considered an asset.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across offices and departments.
