Construction Director [SL]

1. Construction Management

• Lead and oversee construction activities to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, approved plans, schedules, budgets and quality standards.

• Review and endorse construction-related contractual and tender documents for submission.

• Review and refine construction plans to ensure alignment with overall project objectives and requirements.

• Establish policies, procedures and risk controls to manage construction site risks in accordance with applicable industry standards.

• Monitor construction progress, cost, quality and schedule performance.

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely follow-up and resolution of project meeting action items.

• Promote a strong culture of quality assurance, quality control and regulatory compliance.

• Oversee subcontractor engagement and performance to support the timely completion of construction works.

2. Project Completion and Handover

• Oversee project completion activities, including the management of defects, outstanding works and variations.

• Coordinate with stakeholders to verify and close out outstanding defects and variations.

• Establish procedures for the testing and commissioning of equipment, components and building systems.

• Review and endorse project handover and closure documentation for submission to relevant authorities.

• Oversee the resolution of defects during the defects liability period.

3. Workplace Safety and Sustainability

• Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements and organisational safety policies.

• Establish and implement health and safety procedures aligned with applicable legislation and industry practices.

• Review accident and incident findings to identify trends and implement preventive measures.

• Drive environmental sustainability initiatives and the adoption of green building practices.

4. People and Business Management

• Lead recruitment, workforce planning and employee development in line with organisational objectives.

• Set performance expectations and guide teams towards achieving project targets.

• Oversee project budgets, financial forecasts and cash flow management.

• Develop strategic business development objectives and support the organisation’s growth.

5. Continuous Improvement and Risk Management

• Monitor developments in construction technologies, industry practices and built environment trends.

• Evaluate the feasibility, benefits, costs and risks of new technologies and construction methods.

• Lead the implementation of suitable innovations to improve project efficiency, cost, quality and delivery timelines.

• Promote continuous improvement across construction operations.

• Review risk management plans and controls to ensure alignment with the organisation’s risk management framework.

6. Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure construction activities comply with applicable Singapore legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Building Control Act, Electricity Act, Fire Safety Act and Workplace Safety and Health Act.
