Construction General Foreman

A Construction General Foreman is responsible for supervising all on-site construction activities, coordinating workers and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily construction site operations.
• Coordinate and oversee foremen, skilled trades, and laborers.
• Plan work schedules and assign daily tasks.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project plans.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Monitor work quality and ensure it meets project specifications.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Track project progress and prepare daily reports.
• Manage materials, equipment, and workforce efficiently.
• Identify and resolve construction issues and delays.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings.
• Ensure housekeeping and site organization are maintained.
• Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
• Trade certification or vocational training is an advantage.

Experience

• 8–15 years of construction experience.
• At least 3–5 years in a Foreman or General Foreman role.
• Experience managing commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or shifts when required.

Preferred Certifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety (or equivalent).
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Scaffold Safety certification.
• Confined Space Entry certification (if applicable).
• Working at Heights certification.
• Equipment operation certification (where required).
