Construction Manager

Role Details

• Travel: Regular travel to project sites and office locations is required.
• Schedule: Flexibility to work overtime and weekends and support emergency response and restoration activities when required.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Director or Regional Director, the Construction Manager oversees the execution of multiple distribution powerline construction projects. You will lead field supervision, serve as the primary technical resource for construction activities, and work with project and operations teams to deliver work safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced construction professional who combines technical judgment with strong field leadership. You will coach Superintendents, General Forepersons, Forepersons, and crews while helping improve safety, productivity, quality, and construction practices across distribution operations.

Key Elements of the Role

• Lead and mentor field supervision, crews, and subcontractors in the safe execution of overhead and underground distribution projects, including new construction, upgrades, maintenance, rebuilds, and restoration.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, work plans, and schedules, and provide technical guidance to resolve field challenges. Work with Work Methods Specialists, Project Managers, and field supervision to develop effective construction approaches.
• Conduct field visits, safety observations, and quality reviews, and support the investigation, reporting, and resolution of safety concerns, quality issues, and deficiencies.
• Verify that tools, equipment, materials, permits, and training are in place before work begins. Ensure required documentation, inspections, and quality checks meet project quality plans, Inspection and Test Plans, technical specifications, and client standards.
• Coordinate workforce forecasting, resource planning, and mobilization and demobilization with project and operations teams, aligning personnel, equipment, and materials with schedules, budgets, and productivity requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders. Participate in project reviews and planning meetings and support the resolution of requests for information, non-conformances, and change management items.
• Work with Operations and Shared Services to improve safety, productivity, quality, and construction processes, supporting the development of safe work procedures, construction methods, and field leadership capabilities.

What You’ll Bring

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician certification or an equivalent credential.
• Minimum ten years of progressive experience in utility distribution construction or a related construction environment.
• Experience leading field crews, supervisors, or construction teams, with strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Strong understanding of distribution construction practices and field operations, including the ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet project deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Acrobat, or similar construction markup tools.
• A valid driver’s licence and an acceptable driver’s abstract, maintained throughout employment.
• Experience with overhead and underground electrical distribution projects is strongly preferred.
