The Opportunity
OCU is delivering major electricity infrastructure programmes across the UK's distribution network, supporting critical network reinforcement, new connections, and the wider energy transition. As a Construction Manager, you'll lead the delivery of overhead line construction activities across complex infrastructure projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of large-scale power projects, lead multidisciplinary teams, and play a key role in delivering infrastructure that keeps communities connected and supports future network growth. If you're an experienced construction leader with a passion for safety, operational excellence, and successful project delivery, we'd like to hear from you.
- Lead the delivery of overhead line construction activities across multiple projects and workstreams.
- Manage site teams, subcontractors, and operational resources to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
- Drive programme performance, ensuring works are delivered in line with project milestones and client expectations.
- Coordinate outage planning, network access requirements, and project interfaces with operational stakeholders.
- Review and implement construction programmes, work packs, permits, and risk management processes.
- Promote a positive safety culture through site leadership, inspections, briefings, and compliance monitoring.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, landowners, local authorities, and project stakeholders.
- Support commercial performance through effective resource planning, progress reporting, change management, and cost awareness.
Essential
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Senior Site Manager, or similar leadership role within power, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of overhead line construction and electrical network delivery environments.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities.
- Experience leading operational teams and managing subcontractor performance.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project reporting systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on electricity distribution, transmission, or energy infrastructure projects.
- Bonus if you have experience delivering multidiscipline projects involving civils, cabling, substations, and overhead lines.
- It would be great if you have knowledge of permit systems, network access processes, and outage planning requirements.
- It would be great if you've worked within DNO, ICP, or regulated utility environments.
- Understanding of quality assurance processes, inspection regimes, and construction documentation systems would be advantageous.
