Unyte is looking for an experienced Construction Manager to lead the successful delivery of major civil construction projects and play a key role in driving safety, commercial performance, operational excellence and team development.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a proven construction professional who knows what it takes to deliver complex projects from mobilisation through to completion.

You’ll have genuine influence across project strategy, construction delivery, commercial performance, client relationships and people leadership, working closely with senior leadership and leading experienced Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers and broader project teams.

What you’ll do

As Construction Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across major civil projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to the required quality standards.

You will:

  • Lead the overall delivery of major civil construction projects valued at $10-80M+
  • Provide leadership, direction and support to Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers and broader project teams
  • Drive project performance across program, cost, quality, risk and commercial outcomes
  • Develop and manage project budgets, resources and delivery programs
  • Monitor financial performance, forecasting, cash flow, variations, claims and commercial risk
  • Lead procurement and subcontractor engagement for major project packages
  • Identify and maximise commercial opportunities while proactively managing project risk
  • Lead contractual matters including variations, extensions of time, claims and dispute resolution
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders
  • Provide visible and accountable leadership across HSEQ, particularly in high-risk construction environments
  • Ensure projects are appropriately resourced and structured for successful delivery
  • Lead project and construction meetings, creating clear accountability and driving outcomes
  • Mentor, develop and performance-manage Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers and engineering teams
  • Drive consistency across project systems, processes, construction methodologies and delivery standards
  • Work collaboratively with HSEQ, Finance, Procurement, Assets and People teams
  • Support business development and client relationships to help secure repeat work and future opportunities

About you

You’re an experienced civil construction leader who can operate confidently at both a strategic and hands-on level.

You will ideally bring:

  • 10-15+ years’ experience within civil construction
  • Proven experience delivering major projects valued at $10-80M+
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary project and construction teams
  • Strong experience across project delivery, commercial management and contract administration
  • Proven capability managing budgets, cost forecasting, procurement and commercial risk
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, programming and subcontractor management
  • Experience managing clients, consultants and senior project stakeholders
  • Strong HSEQ leadership and a genuine commitment to creating safe project environments
  • Experience working across major Australian construction contract frameworks, including AS4000, AS2124, PC 1-1998 and/or VicRoads contracts
  • Sound understanding of EBAs, Awards and relevant construction legislation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, decision-making and problem-solving capability
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred
  • Current Australian Driver Licence
  • Experience with Jobpac and Expert Estimation will be highly regarded.
