Construction Project Engineer – Warren, NJ
Position Overview:
The Project Engineer (PE) is an entry-level position that provides exposure to a wide range of functions within the construction industry and the firm. Through hands-on involvement in project operations, safety, project controls, estimating, business development, and other aspects of the business, the PE develops a strong understanding of company processes, procedures, and systems while exploring areas that align with their skills and career interests. The PE collaborates with project teams, department leaders, and field personnel, gaining experience in both office and field environments. This role plays a key part in supporting successful project delivery and providing exceptional service to colleagues, owners, owner representatives, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. It is unlikely that any one individual will possess all of the qualifications and skills outlined below; rather, these represent the company's vision for success in this role.
This is an evergreen opportunity intended to build a talent pipeline for upcoming Project Engineer openings in Warren, New Jersey. While an immediate opening may not be available, qualified candidates will be considered for future full-time opportunities as business needs arise.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates an understanding of the values and ethics that differentiate Higley Construction in the competitive marketplace.
Understands how to read construction drawings and documents and understand general industry terminology.

Manages all project engineering duties including managing RFI’s, Submittals, drawing coordination, writing meeting min. and project correspondence.
Plays an active role in maintaining a safe and secure job site.
Assists the PM with change management.
Assists the superintendent with field coordination and subcontractor management.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or construction-related degree, or relevant experience.
Although no previous experience is required for this role, 1-2 years in engineering, construction management, or a related field is a benefit.
A positive if the candidate holds engineering certifications, such as an EIT.
Has completed co-op work rotations or similar experience.
