Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising construction activities and field personnel related to mechanical, piping, painting, insulation, refractory and fireproofing discipline.
  • Conduct tool box talks.
  • Monitoring daily construction activities and daily progress in his area.
  • Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazards immediately.
  • Regularly participate in HSE meetings, daily jobsite walks, conduct toolbox talks and keep records.
  • Build right first time in line with QinC initiative and put maximum efforts to get inspection records signed off with no or minimum punch list items.
  • Implement construction work processes, project procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Prepare reports relating to construction progress, job manpower forecasts etc.
  • Alert Construction Manager or Construction Superintendent whenever any aspect of the work does not comply with the contract requirements or is being performed outside of the contract scope.
  • Attend subcontract and cost awareness sessions and understand the responsibility matrices, BOQ and preambles of subcontract.
  • Provide solutions to subcontractor’s problems in order to achieve the successful execution of the project.
  • Verify that the material handed over to the subcontractor is controlled, preserved and issued for the intended purpose.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for less experienced staff.
  • Input site construction feedback in Construction Observation Form.
  • Closely monitor additional work of Site Instruction until work is completed and inform Subcontracts team for closure of Site Instruction.
  • Possess renowned knowledge in survey equipment; underground activities such as earthworks, excavation, concrete works, steel works, road works and other related civil activities.
  • Train subcontractors to build right first time and perform quality control inspection on material received, installation in-progress and final process inspection on the assigned works.
  • Understand a material packing list and identify the material required for the installation and cross reference with the purchase order.
  • Plan activity, prepare material requisitions and ensure their withdrawal.
  • Provide day to day civil/structural support and advice to supervisors.
  • Provide specialist support with regards to inspection, and meeting with client or subcontractor.
  • Coordinate civil, structural and building activities within assigned scope at work site.
  • Ensure that necessary certification for materials are available for concrete works.
  • Review the project schedules to confirm work sequences, installation progress requirements and completion milestone plans. Also, identify other discipline commodities that must be installed to support the civil works.
  • Prepare work, monitor punch lists and red line GA drawings and P&IDs. After completion of works ensure feedback and close work.
  • Understand and implement civil and structural drawings including topographic layouts, earthworks, excavation drawings, boreholes locations, fencing, paved roads and drainage, underground piping and foundations, architectural and conceptual building drawings, control room layouts, substation layouts, machinery shelters, service platforms, pipe racks, pump foundations, vessel and vessel platform foundations, columns and other civil/structural drawings.
  • Ensure AFCs are strictly followed by subcontractor.
  • Ensure implementation of Petrofac’s Civil, Structural and Building procedure.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • 6+ years civil, structural and building site experience in direct hire construction with an international oil and gas EPC company and with subcontractors.
  • Experience working in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS/FSU), Middle East, and/or North Africa.
  • Prior experience working with a diverse international workforce.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Familiar with international codes and standards (BS, ASTM, ACI etc.), concrete and asphalt mix designs, laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, earthworks and grouting.
  • Knowledge and interpretation skills of building sectional, reinforcement and structural steel drawings.
  • Experience to solve civil, building and structural issues onsite and provide guidance to subcontractors.
  • Analytic and problem-solving skills together with good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • English fluency both spoken and written.
