The Consultant, Technology Project Manager supports Nationwide Pet. The pet insurance market is growing fast with premium growth averaging above 20% and more carriers are coming online. To compete in that market, the Pet strategy is to diversify products and channels while modernizing its digital chassis.

Technology is key to delivering on the business strategy. We are looking for a strong project manager excelling in program/project management, written and verbal communications, and fostering strong business partner relationships.

Experience in Planview and Jira is preferred. This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with collaboration taking place in our Scottsdale, AZ, office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Work hours are Pacific time zone to support the business.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

As a Technology Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving measurable outcomes by delivering incremental value across technology initiatives. You’ll connect business case objectives by shaping planning, defining dependencies, and ensuring alignment across key leaders and delivery teams.

You’ll lead complex initiatives with accountability for financials, vendor performance, and delivery health, while maintaining transparent communication and guiding change management. Through Agile, Lean, and DevOps practices, you optimize delivery flow, manage risk, and ensure continuous value realization.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives end-to-end delivery of expected business outcomes, realization of benefits outlined in the business case, incremental value delivery, planning, and dependency and scope definition.

  • Leads medium- to complex-scale initiatives and owns dependency and financial management for those initiatives.

  • Optimizes value delivery by balancing demand and capacity, using standard tools and KPIs to improve performance and maintain delivery momentum.

  • Manages initiative financials including budgets, forecasts, contract adherence, and delivery against expected outcomes.

  • Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Coaches, influences, and mentors team members and peers to strengthen delivery discipline, collaboration, and overall effectiveness.

  • Drives continuous improvement through Agile, Lean, and DevOps practices, including automation and inspection cycles.

  • Leads transparent communication and change management, proactively surfacing status, decisions, impacts, and critical issues to enable successful business outcomes.

  • Key contributor of contract negotiations, statement of work development, and vendor oversight to achieve expected goals.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Technology Project Manager or above.

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Undergraduate studies (bachelor’s degree preferred) in management information systems, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics or comparable experience and education strongly preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or PMI, SAFe, Agile or Lean designations are encouraged.

Experience: Six or more years of experience in technology or a related field, including three years of demonstrated proficiency in delivering outcomes/projects. Awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations. Aptitude to influence, build relationships, and set priorities. Excellent communication skills to interact with all levels of associates, senior management, and/or vendors. Strong planning, delivery, financial, dependency, and risk management skills. Ability to lead through change and drive alignment across teams. Insurance and/or financial services industry knowledge is a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Note on Compensation for Part-Time Roles: Please be aware that the salary ranges listed below reflect full-time compensation. Actual compensation may be prorated based on the number of hours worked relative to a full-time schedule.

The national salary range for Consultant, Technology Project Manager : $118,000.00-$222,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Technology Project Manager : $118,000.00 - $178,000.00
