Consumer Safety Officer
This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), Office of Compliance and Enforcement (OCE). CTP's mission is to protect Americans from tobacco-related disease and death by regulating the manufacture, distribution, and marketing of tobacco products and by educating the public, especially young people, about tobacco products and the dangers their use poses to themselves and others.
Carries out programmatic operations and responsibilities of the position in support of enforcing the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.
Reviews and evaluates tobacco-related evidence to determine if regulatory compliance requirements are met.
Prepares and presents informal remarks at briefings, training sessions, consumer industry workshops, etc.
Assists in developing and coordinating the Center's position in response to requests for guidance and interpretation of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.
