Content and Community Manager Bashstore
WE ARE BASH
Bash is South Africa's largest omnichannel shopping platform. We connect over 500 brands across the physical and digital world, for millions of South Africans, every day. We're building something with real scale and real consequence.
We're founder led, a team of true owners and humble learners. We work hard, hold a high bar, and show up for each other. The problems aren't easy and the pace is real but when you break through, the impact is felt across the business and by the customers who rely on us.
If that sounds like the kind of place where you'd do the best work of your career, we'd like to meet you.
We're looking for a Content & Community Manager, someone who gets people. Not just audiences in abstract, but the person standing in a store, mid-shift, who has thirty seconds to check their phone. What makes them stop? What makes them read to the end? What makes them feel like they're part of something worth showing up for?
That instinct, and the ability to act on it every day, is what this job is built around.
What you'll be doing
Bash has built omni+, an internal platform that connects thousands of store staff across the country through Bashstore, our endless aisle solution. It shows them their sales performance, celebrates their wins, keeps them informed, and helps them sell better. It's a powerful piece of technology. What it needs now is someone to bring it to life.
You'll own the day-to-day content that goes into omni+. You'll plan what goes out and when, write the posts, film the clips, create the GIFs, and find the stories worth telling. When a store or a store employee hits a milestone worth celebrating, you'll make sure the whole network knows about it. When something new launches on Bashstore - a new product, feature, incentive — you'll be the one who makes it make sense to the person on the floor.
Some of what you'll work on day to day:
- Running a content calendar so there's always something worth seeing on the platform - not just when big things happen, but every week.
- Filming short clips and interviews with store staff and turning them into content that feels real and energetic, not corporate.
- Writing copy that's clear, direct, and has some personality
- Turning performance data - sales numbers, leaderboards, milestones - into moments people actually care about.
- Supporting the rollout of new products and features with content that helps people understand what's changing and why it's good for them.
What we're looking for
You don't need a long CV. You need the right instincts and the drive to use them.
You understand how content works - what makes something worth reading and what makes someone scroll straight past. You can write well and you can create: short video, GIFs, simple graphics. You're comfortable talking to people, asking them questions, and turning what they say into something shareable. You're organised enough to manage a calendar and meet deadlines without being chased. And you care enough about the work to notice when something's off before it goes out.
A background in social media, content creation, internal communications, or anything similar is great. So is experience in retail or a customer-facing environment - understanding how store staff think and what they care about will make you much better at this job.
Roughly 1–3 years of relevant experience is what we'd expect, but what matters more is the quality of what you've made.
Why this role
This isn't a role where you execute someone else's plan and wait to be told what's next. There's real creative latitude here. omni+ and Bashstore are growing — new products, new features, new stores — and the content strategy is yours to shape alongside the team. You'll work closely with the people running the business day to day, which means you'll have context, you'll have access, and you'll have the ability to make things happen quickly.
If you want a junior role where you can genuinely build something, this is it.
We ask a few optional demographic questions to monitor fairness in hiring and comply with South Africa’s Employment Equity requirements. Your responses are confidential—stored separately from your application and never shown to hiring panels. We review the data only in aggregate to strengthen our sourcing so pipelines are diverse and all candidates receive equitable support. You can skip any question.
JOINING THE BASH TEAM
We believe in autonomy and self-driven individuals who thrive within some uncertainty so that they can fill those gaps with their uniqueness. The qualities that allow you to thrive are curiosity, proactivity and a bias to action. If you are these things, joining the Bash team will catapult your career and ensure you do the best work, pushing past your preconceived boundaries.
We don't believe in padding this section with things that sound good on paper. Here's what working at Bash actually looks like:
BASH PERKS

Top-of-market pay. The best people, in the right roles, earning at the top tier.
