Contract Children's Educational Content Writer

PragerU is seeking a talented, creative, and versatile Children's Educational/Content Writer to develop engaging, educational, and entertaining content for children and students from pre-K through 12th grade. This writer will create original scripts, stories, books, and educational materials that bring history, civics, economics, character, and American values to life.

The ideal candidate is both an accomplished storyteller and an experienced educator, with a strong understanding of classroom dynamics, child development, and the unique ways students learn at different ages. Candidates must have direct classroom teaching experience at the middle school and/or high school level with a focus on history, civics, social studies.

This role requires someone who can move seamlessly between entertainment and education—creating content that makes children laugh, think, ask questions, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

This is a contract position. Contract terms, duration, compensation, and expected availability will be discussed during the hiring process

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Write original scripts for animated series spanning 50-episodes with a solid understanding of meeting State Standards
• Eventually, help develop children's books and stories, including picture books, early readers, and middle-grade titles
• Apply an edutainment approach to every format, ensuring content is entertaining, engaging, and grounded in meaningful educational takeaways
• Draw on firsthand classroom teaching experience to create content that reflects how students think, learn, engage, and respond to new ideas
• Transform complex topics in history, civics, economics, character, and American values into accurate, compelling, and age-appropriate stories and lessons
• Work closely with producers, animators, editors, educators, and the creative team from concept through final delivery, taking notes well and revising efficiently
• Meet production deadlines while managing multiple projects in different formats at once

Successful Candidates Will Possess:

• At least 4-5+ years of direct classroom teaching experience at the middle school and/or high school level is REQUIRED
• A portfolio demonstrating strong writing ability across multiple formats, ideally including scripts, books, educational materials, or children's digital content
• A strong understanding of child development and how attention, comprehension, and humor change across age groups
• The ability to write with real comedic and storytelling chops: memorable characters, sharp dialogue, and a natural sense of rhythm and fun
• Comfort writing structured educational content with clear learning objectives that teachers and parents can pick up and use
• A quick study who can learn a house style and creative framework fast and apply it consistently
• Alignment with PragerU’s mission and values, and enthusiasm for creating content that helps kids love America and understand the ideas that built it
• Demonstrated ability to independently develop original ideas, stories, scripts, and educational content
• Ability to produce polished, original work without relying on generative AI to write, develop, or substantially produce content

Compensation: Per-script fee. Compensation will be determined based on the scope, length, and complexity of each writing assignment and agreed upon in advance.
