About the Opportunity

Atlas Digital is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Azure Cloud Engineers for current and anticipated contract opportunities across large-scale Federal Government digital transformation programs.

We are engaging with candidates ahead of confirmed and emerging roles. Some opportunities may commence immediately, while others are expected to become available as program and client requirements are confirmed.

About the Role

As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you will work within cross-functional delivery teams to design, build, configure, automate, and support secure Microsoft Azure cloud environments.

These roles will suit experienced cloud engineers who are comfortable being hands-on with Azure infrastructure and engineering, while also contributing to cloud architecture, technical design, and implementation decisions.

You may work across new cloud environments, platform uplift initiatives, application hosting, infrastructure automation, networking, security, monitoring, and DevOps capabilities.

The role is suited to someone who can work effectively within Agile and DevOps delivery environments, collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable Azure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure, and maintain Microsoft Azure cloud environments

  • Implement Azure infrastructure and platform services across development, testing, and production environments

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Azure DevOps or similar tooling

  • Configure and manage Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, private endpoints, DNS, and connectivity

  • Implement identity and access controls using Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, and related Azure security capabilities

  • Configure monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational visibility using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights

  • Support cloud security, governance, compliance, and configuration management requirements

  • Work with architects and technical leads to translate cloud architecture and designs into working solutions

  • Contribute to cloud architecture, technical design decisions, patterns, standards, and documentation

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, deployment, performance, and integration issues

  • Support application teams with Azure hosting, integration, deployment, and cloud platform requirements

  • Participate in technical design discussions, estimation, planning, delivery ceremonies, and technical reviews

  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency

  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across cloud engineering practices

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial experience working as an Azure Cloud Engineer, Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services

  • Experience designing, building, and supporting Azure environments in enterprise settings

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar technologies

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and modern DevOps practices

  • Strong understanding of Azure networking, connectivity, routing, DNS, firewalls, NSGs, and private networking

  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, and Azure identity and access management

  • Experience implementing cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational support capabilities

  • Understanding of Azure security, governance, compliance, and cloud best practices

  • Experience troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure and deployment issues

  • Ability to interpret architecture and technical designs and implement them within Azure

  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps delivery environments

  • Ability to work effectively within distributed and remote teams

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience working within Federal Government, regulated, enterprise, or large-scale digital transformation environments will be highly regarded

  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications will be highly regarded

  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes/AKS, PowerShell, Azure CLI, scripting, automation, or GitHub will be highly regarded

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work:

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens

  • Applicants must currently hold a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance

  • Candidates holding NV1 or higher security clearances are also encouraged to apply

Applicants who do not currently hold an active Baseline Security Clearance or higher will not be considered for these opportunities.
