The Role
McKnight International is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to support infrastructure, transportation, aviation, engineering, construction, capital improvement, and technology-related programs throughout Maryland.

This role is responsible for managing contracts throughout the full contract lifecycle, including contract review, administration, compliance monitoring, financial coordination, risk assessment, change management, and stakeholder communications. The Contract Manager will work closely with project managers, clients, consultants, contractors, finance teams, legal representatives, and executive leadership to ensure contractual obligations are effectively managed and organizational objectives are achieved.

The ideal candidate combines strong contract management expertise with financial acumen, risk management capabilities, and experience supporting engineering, construction, infrastructure, transportation, aviation, or consulting environments.

The individual hired will represent McKnight International while supporting contract administration, compliance, financial oversight, stakeholder coordination, and operational excellence across a variety of infrastructure and consulting programs.

Requirements

Leadership Scope

• Lead contract administration activities across multiple projects and programs

• Serve as a primary point of contact for contract-related matters

• Coordinate with project teams, clients, consultants, contractors, finance personnel, and executive leadership

• Facilitate contract reviews, negotiations, modifications, and closeout activities

• Support organizational compliance and risk management initiatives

• Promote accountability, collaboration, and sound contract management practices

• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Operate within a fast-paced environment where compliance, financial performance, and contract execution are critical

Essential Job Functions

Contract Administration

• Review, interpret, administer, and monitor contracts throughout the contract lifecycle

• Manage agreements, task orders, work authorizations, amendments, and contract modifications

• Maintain contract documentation, records, and tracking systems

• Ensure contractual obligations are communicated and executed appropriately

• Support contract closeout and documentation requirements

Contract Review & Analysis

• Analyze contract terms, conditions, deliverables, schedules, and financial provisions

• Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies

• Evaluate contract language, obligations, liabilities, and compliance requirements

• Support contract negotiations and resolution of contractual issues

Financial Management

• Monitor contract budgets, funding allocations, expenditures, and financial performance

• Track contract values, invoicing requirements, change orders, and forecasts

• Coordinate with accounting and project teams to ensure financial compliance

• Support financial reporting, revenue tracking, and budget analysis activities

• Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions when necessary

Change Management

• Review and process contract modifications, amendments, and change orders

• Evaluate scope changes and contractual impacts

• Maintain accurate records of revisions, approvals, and associated financial implications

Risk & Compliance Management

• Identify contractual, operational, financial, and compliance risks

• Develop strategies to mitigate risk exposure

• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and regulatory requirements

• Support audits, reviews, and compliance assessments as needed

Stakeholder Communication

• Serve as a primary point of contact for contract-related communications

• Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, project teams, and leadership

• Prepare contract status reports, executive summaries, and supporting documentation

• Support issue resolution and collaborative decision-making processes

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain organized contract files and project records

• Prepare reports related to contract performance, financial metrics, compliance requirements, and risk exposure

• Support management reporting and executive decision-making activities

Problem Solving & Decision Support

• Address contract-related challenges and develop practical solutions

• Provide guidance regarding contract interpretation and administration

• Support business decisions through contractual, financial, and operational analysis

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Accounting, Legal Studies, or a related field

• Minimum ten (10) years of contract management, contract administration, procurement, project controls, financial management, project management, or related experience

• Demonstrated experience reviewing, negotiating, and administering complex contracts

• Strong understanding of contract terms, commercial agreements, risk allocation principles, and compliance requirements

• Experience supporting engineering, construction, infrastructure, transportation, aviation, consulting, or technical service projects

• Experience managing contract budgets, forecasting, invoicing, and financial reporting activities

• Strong analytical, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully pass all required background clearances

Physical, Schedule & Eligibility Requirements

• Ability to travel between project and client locations as required

• Additional hours may be required based on project demands and client requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to pass all required background clearances

Salary

Annual base salary range: $80,000 – $120,000

Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and relevant contract management experience.
