Contract - Sr Project Manager
Summary
A contract Senior Project Manager oversees healthcare supply chain projects, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver software implementations on time and within budget. Core focus: managing customer relationships, planning schedules, resolving issues, and ensuring quality in large-scale projects using Agile/SDLC methodologies.
The Contract Sr. Project Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate project activities to ensure project and team objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Coordinates cross-functional projects and assumes a leadership role in shaping priorities, setting and tracking schedules, driving issue resolution, and ensuring quality.
Requires strong project management skills, a strong technical knowledge in software implementation, and proven experience managing key customer relationships and project details.
This position is offered on a contract basis with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures the timely and accurate delivery of contract deliverables and key project artifacts across multiple projects.
- Serves as the primary point of contact with key customers for implementation of GHX core products, leading coordination calls and aligning GHX activities with customer activities.
- Leads and facilitates project “kickoff“ sessions to review assumptions and expectations, gather requirements, educate internal stakeholders on products and services, etc.
- Builds detailed project plans and schedules, identifying deliverables, milestones, and required tasks, while independently managing the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple large-scale projects.
- Directs and coordinates project personnel to keep the project on schedule, providing early visibility to milestones at risk and supportive analysis on the use of resources. Influences across the project scope without authority and works through ambiguous situations to reach tactical resolutions and go-forward action plans.
- Maintains an overall program-level risk and issue log. Facilitates risk mitigation and issue resolution across functional managers and sponsors to minimize impact to project schedule and internal stakeholder satisfaction. Aligns to strategic needs of the client, as well as best practice experiences.
- Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with stakeholders that continue to progress the project per charter / guidelines formulated at project initiation.
- Understands the business fundamentals, provides routine updates to senior leadership (both client and GHX) on assigned projects, in the form of routine project check in meetings, and/or formal project readouts. Areas needing escalation are provided and resolved through mutual senior management teams.
- Provides leadership, mentoring, and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle. Holds team members accountable to commitments and aligns to overall project status reporting/escalation transparently.
- Assists the teams with project best practices, techniques, and tools for planning, execution, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics, and identifies and facilitates opportunities to improve those tools and processes.
- Maintains product knowledge to increase efficiency in delivery of products.
- Initiates change management reviews and contract modifications and identifies requirements for product and IT development.
- Participation in vaccination programs as required by healthcare organizations credentialing guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in project leadership roles
- 5+ years of experience with software development, implementation or integration projects either in a leadership role or as a major team contributor. Must have a proficient understanding of the software implementation life cycle.
- Advanced knowledge of project management methods and processes, including SDLC and Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks. Demonstrated success in delivering project scope on time and within budget.
- Experience managing complex customer relationships and large clinical projects that are multi-threaded, including teams with more than 8 team members.
- Excellent facilitation, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills, including well-developed interpersonal skills in a customer-facing role.
- Ability to work in a team environment while remaining self-directed, proactive, and action oriented, with a demonstrated passion for learning new technology.
- Strong analytical and qualitative reasoning skills, with the ability to diagnose project performance problems and execute effective corrective actions.
- Significant experience with the Microsoft Office suite of solutions
- ERP/MMIS experience required (or equivalent)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment in complex situations and function independently with initiative, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Healthcare Information Technology or Operational leadership experience.
- Experience with integration technologies (HL7, FHIR etc).
- Potential travel up to 25%.
