Control Engineer for Actuators and Sensors (all genders)

As a Reaction Wheel Control Engineer, you will develop the control algorithms and embedded control software for our in-house reaction wheels. You will work closely with systems, mechanical, electronics, AOCS, and Flight Software engineers to translate product-level performance targets into robust control solutions for operation in space.
  • Take part in the system design by working closely with the other reaction wheel team members.
  • Compare, select, and implement control strategies and a state machine for reaction wheels on component level.
  • Create a plant model for simulation and use it to tune the parameters to meet the control performance targets.
  • Software development / implementation either by autocode generation or embedded C programming.
  • Own the entire FDIR process and control software testing and evaluate the control robustness.
  • Develop algorithms for other components such as star trackers or magnetorquers.
  • Collaborate closely with AOCS and Flight Software team.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of control systems, mechanical dynamics, and field oriented control.
  • Hands-on experience with reaction wheels, electric motors, or similar actuators.
  • Proven expertise in AOCS development.
  • Experience with simulation tools like Matlab/Simulink.
  • Experience with Code generation in Matlab or embedded C.
