Control-M Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Control-M Administrator / Control-M Support SME to be responsible for the administration, maintenance, enhancement, and support of the Control-M scheduling platform.

The role involves ownership of Control-M infrastructure, platform health, integrations, automation initiatives, upgrades, and incident resolution. The successful candidate will work closely with application, infrastructure, security, network, and vendor teams to ensure platform stability, availability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Control-M Platform Administration & Support

  • Administer and maintain Control-M Enterprise Manager, Control-M Servers, and Agents.

  • Manage Control-M platform configurations, control parameters, security settings, and system administration activities.

  • Monitor and maintain server health, agent connectivity, and overall platform availability.

  • Configure and maintain calendars, resources, alert thresholds, notification policies, and escalation mechanisms.

  • Perform Control-M upgrades, patch installations, hotfix deployments, and platform lifecycle management.

  • Execute post-upgrade validation and resolve compatibility or configuration issues.

  • Perform platform performance tuning, optimisation, and capacity planning.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform-level incidents impacting scheduling services.

  • Manage Control-M High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and failover-related activities.

  • Coordinate with BMC Support on product issues, defect analysis, and escalation management.

  • Develop and maintain platform documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational procedures.

Control-M Integration Support

  • Maintain and support existing Control-M integrations with enterprise applications and external systems.

  • Monitor integration health and ensure reliable communication between Control-M and connected platforms.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve:

    • Connectivity issues

    • API communication failures

    • Authentication and authorisation issues

    • Configuration-related issues

    • Integration service failures

  • Support the integration of Control-M with enterprise monitoring, observability, and ITSM tools.

  • Ensure alert and event forwarding mechanisms are functioning as expected.

  • Perform validation and testing following integration, upgrade, or configuration changes.

  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and network teams to resolve cross-functional issues.

Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Apply hands-on experience with Ansible and/or Terraform for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and automation.

  • Develop automation solutions to streamline operational and administrative activities.

  • Create and maintain reusable automation workflows, playbooks, and scripts.

  • Design and support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) implementations to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.

  • Use source control and automation best practices.

  • Utilise strong scripting capabilities in:

    • Python

    • PowerShell

    • Shell Scripting (Linux/Unix)

  • Knowledge of Control-M Automation API and Job-as-Code (JaaC) is highly desirable.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

  • Provide L2/L3 support for Control-M platform and integration-related incidents.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring issues.

  • Support change implementation activities, including platform upgrades, configuration changes, and integration enhancements.

  • Participate in Problem Management and Continuous Service Improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with organisational change and release management processes.

24x7 Operational Support

  • Provide 24x7 operational support for the Control-M platform and related services.

  • Participate in shift-based support and on-call rotations.

  • Support major incident resolution and critical production recovery activities.

  • Ensure adherence to SLA and availability targets.

  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity exercises.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

  • Control-M Administration, including Enterprise Manager, Server, and Agents

  • Control-M upgrades, patching, and migration activities

  • Control-M HA/DR concepts

  • Control-M Automation API

  • Strong troubleshooting and incident management experience

  • Ansible and/or Terraform

  • Python, PowerShell, and Shell Scripting

  • Linux/Unix Administration

  • Integration support and API troubleshooting

  • 24x7 production support experience

Preferred Skills

  • Control-M Job-as-Code (JaaC)

  • Managed File Transfer (MFT)

  • Cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and GCP

  • CI/CD and DevOps practices

  • Monitoring and observability tool integrations

  • BMC Control-M certifications
