Control Room Operator (1st Shift Security)
Summary
Monitors the Toledo Museum of Art's control room on 1st shift, overseeing video surveillance, access control, and fire/life-safety alarms while dispatching security personnel via radio and phone across campus. Also maintains logs, writes security reports, and conducts 3-5 mile walking patrols; requires security experience and CPR/AED certification within six months of hire.

SUMMARY
- Monitoring visual observations of all campus spaces, ensuring the integrity of all points of entrance and exit.
- Monitoring access control system and respond to abnormalities accordingly.
- Monitoring and responding to all life safety alarms, i.e., fire systems, etc.
- Functioning as a dispatcher for all radio and telephone traffic as required.
- Maintaining appropriate logs and files.
- Creating and filing security reports.
- Remaining current on all policies and procedures.
- Conducting numerous walking patrols of the building as assigned, between 3-5 miles on average per shift.
- Reports as a member of the Protective Services team, to the Supervisors of Protective Services and the Director of Protective Services.
- Works closely across all Museum departments and the general public.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in security, safety or a closely related field.
- Experience with security video management systems and use of specialized databases, and programs used to manage physical security.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Obtains and maintains Heartsaver Certification (CPR and AED). Certification must be obtained within six months of hire date.
- Observe and comply with company, OSHA regulations regarding safety and security.
- Customer Focused- excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and promote positive relations with visitors and staff.
- Decision Making – identify issues, problems and opportunities; gathers and interprets information; chooses appropriate action or involves other in the decision making process when needed.
