  • Evaluate existing accounting workflows and implement improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Develop standardized accounting procedures and scalable financial processes to support ongoing organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external technology providers to ensure successful system transitions and adoption.

Financial Planning and Cash Flow Management

  • Develop and maintain monthly financial forecasts to support budgeting, financial planning, and organizational decision-making.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity monitoring, and financial planning activities.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Establish reporting processes that provide leadership with visibility into financial position, spending patterns, and projected cash requirements.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to support financial planning, resource allocation, and operational objectives.

Internal Controls, Audit, and Compliance

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure reliable financial reporting.
  • Develop and document accounting policies and procedures that support compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate annual audit activities, working closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders to provide required schedules and documentation.
  • Oversee tax filing and regulatory reporting coordination, including Form 990 preparation and related compliance activities.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, improve documentation, and mitigate accounting and operational risks.
  • Ensure accounting records and supporting documentation are maintained accurately and are readily available for audit and review.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, providing guidance, performance feedback, and support for professional growth.
  • Oversee the work of accounting personnel and establish clear responsibilities, expectations, and accountability.
  • Serve as a key financial partner to organizational leadership and department heads.
  • Communicate financial information, accounting policies, and process changes clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage competing priorities while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical accounting activities.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives and support the adoption of new financial systems and processes.
