A growing nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its day-to-day accounting operations and help drive financial excellence across the organization. Overview
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and the monthly close process while leading a team of accounting professionals. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit accounting expertise, a collaborative leadership style, and a passion for building efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and budget variance analyses
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead the annual financial audit and coordinate with external auditors
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning in partnership with finance leadership
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
  • Drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and support financial systems enhancements
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA required
  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including nonprofit accounting
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP (ASC 958) and financial reporting
  • Experience leading accounting teams and managing audits
  • Proficiency with enterprise accounting systems and advanced Excel skills (Sage Intacct experience preferred)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
