The controller position reports to the General Manager and is primarily accountable for the accounting operations of the company and with providing key financial analysis to ownership for the purposes of company decision making. Primary activities include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of internal controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the timeliness and accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with accepted accounting principles.
The controller assembles, reviews, and analyzes a combination of operating and financial data to assess the performance of all company operations. Prepares and distributes internal operating reports for senior and divisional management, identifies areas in need of internal process improvement and assists in the development of plans designed to optimize operating results.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, and participative manager and will lead and develop a team approach to support the areas of accounting, finance, cash management, budgeting, and administration.

- Develops and updates financial analytic tolls, models, and projections
- Issue timely, complete, and accurate financial statements.
- Clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements including division level results.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
- Assist in managing the production of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provide financial analyses, as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations and other decision making.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external accountants for the preparation of annual reviewed financial statements and tax returns.
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Manages outsourced functions.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
- Oversee the accounting operations of each division, subsidiary and/or affiliated companies, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
- Supervise the accounting staff activities.
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Provides support to owner’s companies.
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
- Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly.
- Ensure payroll is done in a timely manner.
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are competed.
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Maintain the chart of accounts, divisions, departments, and item lists.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Maintain an accurate inventory.
