Job Title: Controller – Multi-Entity / Private Equity Backed

Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario

Compensation: $110,000 – $120,000

About the Client & Opportunity: Our firm has been exclusively retained by a rapidly expanding, private equity-backed holding company based in Toronto. Founded on a unique, people-first acquisition model, our client acquires and scales recurring-revenue technology service providers across North America. Instead of absorbing companies into a corporate monolith, they act as a long-term strategic partner, centralizing key leadership functions—like finance and sales—while preserving the distinct culture and operations of their acquisitions.

Due to accelerated acquisition growth, they are actively seeking a talented Controller to join their centralized finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role focuses on the core financial maintenance and branch-level accounting for a diverse portfolio of operating companies.

This is not a "build the plane while flying it" scenario—the financial infrastructure is already successfully in place. We are looking for a rock-solid accounting professional to take the helm of daily financial operations, manage a small team, and ensure seamless multi-entity consolidation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the general accounting function for the holding company and its subsidiary branches, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the portfolio.
• Take ownership of daily financial maintenance, month-end closing processes, and multi-entity financial consolidations.
• Direct, manage, and mentor at least one staff accountant.
• Leverage QuickBooks Online (QBO) to manage the general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting across various operating units.
• Ensure rigorous financial controls and accounting fundamentals are applied to all existing and newly acquired businesses.

Candidate Profile:

• Credentials: A valid CPA designation is absolutely mandatory.
• Experience: 5+ years of robust accounting experience.
• Core Competencies: Deep expertise in general accounting fundamentals and multi-entity / branch-level accounting.
• Industry Agnostic: We are looking for an accounting expert first and foremost. Previous experience in tech, SaaS, or managed services is a bonus, but entirely unnecessary. We care about your ability to execute branch accounting flawlessly.
• Tech Stack: Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required.
• Location: Must reside in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and be available for occasional in-person meetings.
