Controlling Senior Analyst

Summary

Senior analyst prepares financial reports, P&L analysis, and variance insights for commercial teams in a trading environment, using Excel, Power BI, and SAP.

The Senior Commercial Controlling Analyst is responsible for delivering financial and business analysis to support commercial decision making, ensuring accurate performance measurement, validation of results, and effective monitoring of business exposures. This role actively contributes to management reporting processes, monthly close activities, and profitability analysis, providing timely and reliable insights to local and regional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial and business performance information, translating complex datasets into meaningful reports and actionable insights for commercial management.
  • Execute and validate daily and weekly P&L reporting, while monitoring commercial positions and key drivers impacting financial performance.
  • Participate in month-end closing activities, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Perform variance analysis and explain deviations against expected results.
  • Partner with Trading, Operations, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for process improvements, driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives, and providing ad hoc analysis and recommendations to enhance business performance.
  • Knowledge of, or interest in developing expertise in, Commercial Controlling, with the ability to provide insights that support business decision-making.
  • Ability to manage recurring activities and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring alignment with business objectives and quality standards.
  • Strong analytical skills to work with large volumes of data and translate information into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across Commercial, Finance, Operations, and Accounting teams.
  • Proficiency in Financial Analysis, Management Reporting, Commercial Controlling, Profit & Loss Analysis, Variance Analysis, Advanced Excel, Business Intelligence (Power BI preferred), SAP (preferred), Effective Communication, and Process Automation & Continuous Improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced studies in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related fields, previous experience in Controlling, Finance, Audit, Trading Support, or related areas, intermediate to advanced English proficiency, and experience in agricultural commodities, trading environments, or market-driven businesses considered a plus.
