Controls Electrician

Join a team that designs and builds custom automation equipment for customers across a wide range of industries. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys wiring machinery, troubleshooting electrical systems, solving problems, and taking pride in seeing a project through from individual components to a fully functioning machine.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire custom automation equipment according to electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and customer specifications.
  • Install and wire electrical circuits ranging from 24V to 480V.
  • Install wireway, route, pull, and terminate electrical cables and wiring with attention to detail, proper organization, and a neat, professional appearance.
  • Install and connect control panels, sensors, motors, and other electrical components.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues, collaborate with engineering to resolve design concerns, and recommend improvements.
  • Communicate build progress, challenges, and solutions with the Electrical Build Lead.
  • Support project goals related to quality, schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Support machine installations and startups at customer sites as required.

Requirements

  • Strong electrical aptitude with a commitment to safe, high-quality work.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Ability to use electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical components, wiring practices, and control panel assembly.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with the flexibility to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working on or under machinery.
  • Willingness to obtain Forklift, Aerial Platform, Overhead Crane, and Lockout/Tagout certifications.
  • Ability to maintain productivity while prioritizing safety and quality.
  • Experience with custom automation equipment, industrial machinery, or complex electrical assemblies is strongly preferred. Repetitive production wiring experience alone may not be sufficient.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of electrical experience preferred.
  • Technical school, vocational training, apprenticeship, or related education preferred.

Travel

  • Up to 20% travel, including opportunities to support machine installations, startups, and service activities throughout North America and internationally.

If you enjoy building and troubleshooting one-of-a-kind machines, working with a skilled team, and seeing complex systems come to life on the shop floor and at customer sites, we'd like to hear from you.
