Controls Engineer (Mid-Level)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Control Engineer with hands-on experience in cable lay equipment and knowledge of PLC-based control systems. The role involves installation, commissioning, testing and troubleshooting offshore cable lay equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Commissioning & Testing

Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for cable layequipment such as:

- Offshore Carousels, Cable Tensioners, Linear Cable Engines, SpoolingArms, A-Frames, Back deck support winches, Deck Cranes & Mooring winchsystems etc.

- Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)

- Develop and execute commissioning procedures and checklists withdesign team support

2. PLC & Control Systems

- Configure, test, and troubleshoot PLC systems (e.g. Siemens,Allen-Bradley, ABB & Schneider etc.)

- Modify and optimize PLC logic based on operational requirements

- Interface with SCADA/HMI systems for monitoring and control

- Diagnose faults in control panels, sensors, and communication systems

3. Troubleshooting & Support

- Identify and resolve electrical, instrumentation, and control issues

- Provide on-site technical support during offshore operations (ifrequired)

- Support emergency breakdown and fault-finding activities

4. Documentation & Reporting

- Prepare commissioning reports, test records, and punch lists

- Update electrical drawings, control logic documentation, and O&M manuals

- Ensure proper documentation handover to clients

5. Coordination & Collaboration

- Coordinate with Design teams, Project engineers & Ground teams

- Liaise with internal mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical teamsduring integration

- Support Operational related training to operators / client personnel

6. Quality & HSE Compliance

- Follow company’s quality policy procedures

- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures

- Ensure safe commissioning practices, especially in offshoreenvironments

- Participate in risk assessments and toolbox talks

Additional Requirements

- Willingness to travel offshore and internationally on short notice

- Ability to work extended hours during project execution

- Having preferred experience is added advantage

- Experience with cable tension calculations and control philosophy an added advantage

- Exposure to DP vessels and offshore installation operations

- Knowledge of hydraulic control systems an added advantage
