JOB GOALS: Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Coordinator of Communications supports clear, accurate, and timely information flow to families, staff, and the broader community. The position develops and publishes communication materials, contributes to districtwide messaging, and helps maintain a consistent and professional communication presence across all platforms. The Coordinator also provides light, communication-focused support to the Executive Director and assists with essential governance-related communication tasks in alignment with district procedures. This position reports to the Director of Communications, and all assignments—including Executive Director and Board-related communication tasks—are coordinated and prioritized through the Director of Communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Communications (Primary Function ~50%)

  • Develop and edit written content for district newsletters, announcements, press releases, website pages, and staff/family communications.
  • Maintain consistent district branding, tone, and messaging across all communication channels.
  • Publish approved content on the district website, email platforms, and social media accounts to strengthen visibility and engagement.
  • Support creation of visual or multimedia materials, including graphics, slides, photos, and short video clips for district initiatives and campaigns.
  • Review and edit content from departments and school sites to ensure clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Coordinate messaging to staff and families regarding district events, initiatives, calendar updates, and priorities.
  • Support districtwide efforts to highlight school programs, student achievements, and staff excellence to strengthen the community's reputation.
  • Assist in producing content that supports student enrollment efforts, family engagement, and public-facing campaigns.
  • Assist in developing communication materials that support staff recruitment, including job highlights, school culture stories, and district achievements.
  • Track communication projects and maintain organized digital files and communication archives.
  • Assist with communication tasks related to district events, celebrations, and key initiatives.

II. Executive Director Support (Light Communication-Focused Tasks ~30%)

  • Provide basic scheduling support to the Executive Director for communication-related meetings and ensure materials are prepared in advance.
  • Support the Executive Director during cabinet meetings by preparing simple agendas, taking notes, and tracking follow-up items.
  • Assist with formatting and organizing documents, presentations, and summaries needed by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

III. Board & Governance Communication Support (Essential, Lean Tasks ~20%)

  • Assist in preparing the Board meeting agenda and packet, including gathering approved materials, formatting documents, and assembling the final packet.
  • Support Brown Act compliance by posting agendas, notices, and approved documents within required timelines and on the proper platforms.
  • Provide basic operational support during Board meetings, including simple note-taking and documenting action items.
  • Prepare draft Board minutes and upload final approved minutes and documents to the district website or required systems.
  • Maintain organized digital files of agendas, packets, minutes, and Board-related communication materials.

IV. Other duties as assigned.
