Copier Field Technician Position Summary

Candidate must be located in Hawaii.

The Field Specialist I is a hands-on service professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of copiers, printers, and related office equipment at customer locations. This is a field-based, non-remote role requiring daily travel within an assigned territory.

This position focuses on mechanical and technical break/fix work, responding to service calls, diagnosing issues, and delivering high-quality customer support directly onsite. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while managing a full schedule of service calls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site service calls to diagnose, repair, and maintain copiers, printers, and multifunction devices
  • Conduct break/fix troubleshooting on mechanical and basic technical issues
  • Install, configure, and test equipment to ensure proper functionality
  • Perform preventive maintenance on customer equipment to reduce downtime
  • Manage and prioritize a daily schedule of service calls within assigned territory
  • Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and repair documentation
  • Provide excellent customer service, clearly communicating issues and solutions to clients
  • Order and manage parts inventory as needed to complete repairs
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and escalate when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures while working onsite
  • Maintain and care for company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicle

Work Environment

  • Field-based role – travel required throughout the workday
  • Majority of time spent at customer locations
  • Hands-on, physical work involving equipment repair and maintenance
  • May require lifting and moving equipment (copiers/printers)

Qualifications Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in field service, equipment repair, or mechanical/technical troubleshooting
  • Experience working with copiers, printers, or similar electro-mechanical equipment strongly preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a copier/printer service technician role
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair processes for office equipment
  • Customer-facing experience in a service environment

WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and normal range of temperature and noise
  • Occasional overnight travel is required.
  • Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems.
  • New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
  • Requires moderate dexterity - regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination).
  • Some physical effort required; must be able to lift and carry objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
