Job Description
- Ensure that all activities are in compliance with our quality system requirements.
- Hand packs corn tortillas.
- Verifies bags to make sure proper packaging is being used.
- Assists in the training of new employees
- Disposes of contaminated or rework tortillas in appropriate containers, kept close by.
- Monitors stacker mirror at all times to watch for tortilla jams.
- Performs all product handling activities in a packaging work-cell (i.e. stacking, counting, packaging, sealing, put bags in trays or boxes).
- Performs visual inspection of product ensuring quality is acceptable and product is free of foreign materials or contamination, notifying management of non-compliance.
- Keeps work area clean. Perform cleaning of area assigned. Monitors and ensures compliance to the food safety program requirements.
- Is accountable for activities performed that will risk product safety.
- Follows direction from Leads and Supervisors
- Provides suggestions to improve process, procedures and department in support of company goals
- Follows Company and Safety policies to ensure compliance with the safety of employees
- Follows all food safety principles and legal requirements
- Maintains a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well as with other departments and promotes teamwork.
- Works in a safe manner, observing all safety requirements.
- Participates in monthly departmental meetings.
- Must work various shifts and hours including holidays and weekends.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to flex, kneel, bend and stoop.
