Corporate Accounting Leader
The Global Corporate Accounting team manages and drives the close which is a critical process for ensuring accurate and timely financial statements for cross functional teams including the SEC reporting and finance teams. Our partners primarily include FP&A, Revenue Ops, Financial Reporting, Tax, Treasury, IT, Sales Ops, Engineering, and Global Workplace Services. We operate a global team and work in lockstep with our offshore Corporate Accounting shared services team to enhance and scale processes. The Corporate Accounting team is responsible for accounting, adoption of new standards, and operationalizing the following areas including, but not limited to, payroll and related benefits, commissions, leases, and capitalized software, in accordance with US GAAP.
We are looking for a seasoned and experienced Corporate Accounting Leader to lead our Corporate Accounting team. This leader will shape the future state accounting function roadmap, automation strategy, and how AI reshapes the close as the company scales. In this role, you will bring knowledge of best practices and proven experience scaling accounting processes to drive the team. You will mentor the team and leverage AI to drive efficiencies to the close process while staying in compliance with regulatory requirements such as SOX. You will work cross-functionally across the organization solving complex problems and driving a culture of transparency and accountability. Your influencing skills will extend your impact deep into the broader finance org and beyond. This role reports to the Senior Director, Assistant Controller at our HQ in Palo Alto and is an in-office hybrid role.
What you’ll do:
- Continually Enhanced and Scale the Close Process: Develop and execute a plan on how to scale the global accounting close process while incorporating changes in the business. Demonstrated use of AI/automation in accounting processes.
- Develop and Defend Accounting Positions: Prepare and/or review accounting memos with ambiguous facts and situations and arrive at the appropriate conclusion.
- Mentor and Develop: Lead and mentor a team of corporate accounting professionals, as well as an offshore shared services team and relevant stakeholders.
- Positive Impact to Cross-Functional Organizations: Work closely with stakeholders to drive positive change for Rubrik.
- External Audit and SOX/Internal Controls Readiness: Ensure work product is compliant with US GAAP/PCAOB and SOX. Ensure high quality and timely deliverables to external/internal auditors.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is required.
- 12+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a mix of Big 4 public accounting and high-growth public software/technology company; have worked in Corporate Accounting and other functions within a CAO.
- Possess deep understanding of US GAAP; experience with reducing close timeline within sacrificing accuracy; worked in an environment that complies with SOX controls and Big 4 external audits requirements.
- Extensive experience with accounting tools (e.g., Netsuite, Xactly, LeaseQuery, Coupa) and Excel/Google Sheets. Experience with AI tools.
- Have a vision on what an efficient Corporate Accounting function should look like at scale in a high growth environment and drive change.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Strong communication skills and proven track record on being able to manage up and downwards.
- 3 days a week in office per Rubrik’s in-office requirements
