Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Corporate Development Manager to join our Corporate Development team. This role will play a key part in shaping and delivering Schroders’ strategic growth agenda, supporting the identification, evaluation, and execution of M&A, strategic partnerships, investments, and broader corporate initiatives.

We serve a diverse client base that includes pension schemes, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals, family offices, as well as end clients through partnerships with distributors, financial advisers, and online platforms.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre and we have everything we need to work flexibly.

What you'll do

The Corporate Development Manager will take ownership of defined workstreams across transactions and strategic projects, partnering closely with senior stakeholders across Schroders and coordinating internal and external advisers. The role requires strong analytical capability, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Transaction execution & strategic delivery

  • Lead and deliver discrete workstreams across corporate development activity, including M&A, partnerships, and strategic investments, from initial assessment through execution to completion.

  • Develop and evaluate strategic business cases, including target/partner screening, commercial assessment, and risk considerations.

  • Manage transaction processes and workplans, ensuring appropriate governance, pace, and quality of outputs and engaging / negotiating with counterparties.

  • Build, review, and interpret financial models, valuation analyses, and scenario assessments, providing clear insights and recommendations to senior decision makers.

  • Lead elements of financial, commercial, and operational due diligence, coordinating inputs across Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Tax, and other relevant teams.

  • Synthesise diligence findings into clear implications, issues logs, and decision points.

  • Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders across business units and functions to drive progress and resolve blockers.

  • Coordinate external advisers (e.g., investment banks, legal counsel, consultants, and accounting firms), ensuring effective briefing, deliverable quality, and cost awareness.

  • Produce high-quality materials for senior management forums, including investment papers, executive presentations, and Board/committee documentation.

  • Present analysis and recommendations clearly, tailoring content to the audience and highlighting key trade-offs and risks.

  • Maintain a view of relevant industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments to inform strategic priorities and pipeline generation.

  • Support development of a robust opportunity pipeline, including maintaining relevant trackers and databases.

  • Support planning and delivery of key post-deal activities, including integration planning, synergy tracking, and progress reporting (as applicable).

  • Embed disciplined project management practices across assigned initiatives.

  • Understanding of financial statements, valuation concepts, and M&A lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of asset management and broader financial services markets.

  • Experience working with governance processes (e.g., investment committees / Board reporting).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and professional integrity.

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.

  • Collaborative and proactive approach, comfortable working in a team environment.

  • Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or similar) or equivalent experience.

Financial analysis, valuation & diligence

  • Build, review, and interpret financial models, valuation analyses, and scenario assessments, providing clear insights and recommendations to senior decision makers.

  • Lead elements of financial, commercial, and operational due diligence, coordinating inputs across Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Tax, and other relevant teams.

Stakeholder & adviser management

  • Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders across business units and functions to drive progress and resolve blockers.

Executive communication & governance

  • Produce high-quality materials for senior management forums, including investment papers, executive presentations, and Board/committee documentation.

  • Present analysis and recommendations clearly, tailoring content to the audience and highlighting key trade-offs and risks.

Market intelligence & opportunity development

  • Maintain a view of relevant industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments to inform strategic priorities and pipeline generation.

  • Support development of a robust opportunity pipeline, including maintaining relevant trackers and databases.

Project management

  • Support planning and delivery of key post-deal activities, including integration planning, synergy tracking, and progress reporting (as applicable).

  • Embed disciplined project management practices across assigned initiatives.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Understanding of financial statements, valuation concepts, and M&A lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of asset management and broader financial services markets.

  • Experience working with governance processes (e.g., investment committees / Board reporting).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
