CORRESPONDENCE ANALYST
Summary
Processes and routes high-level government correspondence for the Secretary of Defense and senior staff, ensuring timely analysis, tracking, and dispatch of classified and unclassified documents.
This position is located in the Correspondence Analysis Branch (CAB), Correspondence Management Division (CMD), Executive Services Directorate (ESD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS). The CMD directly supports the Secretary of Defense (SecDef), Deputy Secretary of Defense (DepSec), the Department of Defense Executive Secretary (ExecSec), and their immediate senior staffs through the development, implementation, and oversight of all correspondence management.
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Serves as a Correspondence Analyst on a rotating shift basis in CAB. Manages all unclassified correspondence and staff action packages coming into and out of the CMD addressed to or from the SecDef, DepSec, and ExecSec ensuring they are analyzed, controlled in CATMS, tasked, assigned suspense dates, and routed appropriately to the office of primary responsibility (OPR); dispatched to the required addressees; and archived. Reviews and processes the Secretary of Defense Correspondence Action Report (SD 391) determining a wide assortment of suspense management actions. Performs final review and dispatch of all outgoing correspondence signed by the SecDef, DepSec, and the DoD ExecSec. Reviews, coordinates, and tasks all White House incoming correspondence and communication/inquiries from the White House and their staff, to include those from the general public that have been referred from members of the White House staff requiring the Department's response.
