Key responsibilities
Data and reconciliation
Reconcile ERP extracts (item master, inventory, production, purchasing, payroll) to the general
ledger before any analysis.
Identify SKUs with missing, incomplete or outdated standards, BOMs and routings.
Standard costing
Set and revise material standards from current purchase prices and negotiated PO costs.
Build labor standards per SKU from payroll data and time studies: standard hours, rates and
labor cost.
Recalculate overhead absorption rates and the cost pools behind them.
Roll revised standards up through BOMs and routings and quantify the change in inventory
value by SKU.
Variance analysis
Analyze purchase price variance (PPV) and split it into:
o buying variance: standard cost vs. negotiated PO price
o market timing variance: negotiated price vs. market price at receipt
Analyze labor and overhead over- and under-absorption, and usage and efficiency variances.
Support landed cost work, allocating freight-in and import tariffs to SKUs.
Models and reporting
Build reusable, refreshable Excel and Power Query models that rerun on new extracts with
minimal manual work.
Document assumptions, sources and method so another analyst can pick up the work.
Prepare clear working papers and summaries for manager and client review.
Client delivery
Work directly with US clients and partner firms, sending information requests with checklists
ahead of each deadline.
Flag data gaps and risks to deadlines at least 7 days early.
Ask follow-up questions that build on earlier answers rather than repeat them.
Submit a detailed monthly timesheet of hours and activities.
Must-have qualifications
CMA, CA, ICWA or MBA (Finance), or an equivalent cost accounting qualification.
5+ years of hands-on cost accounting in a manufacturing business or a firm serving
manufacturers.
GL, AP, AR or general FP&A experience alone does not qualify.
Direct work on all of the following:
o standard costing: setting, rolling up and revising standards
BOMs and routings: building, reviewing and correcting them
o labor and overhead absorption, including over- and under-absorption
o purchase price variance analysis
o inventory valuation and roll-forwards
Reconciling ERP or inventory sub-ledger extracts to the GL.
Advanced Excel: lookups, pivots, dynamic arrays, scenario logic, large data sets.
Power Query: building refreshable transformations, not just basic imports.
Experience in at least one manufacturing ERP, such as NetSuite, Sage, Epicor, SAP (CO/PP),
Dynamics or Plex.
Clear written English and confident calls with US clients.
Willing to work the US-overlap shift.
Good to have
Experience with sheet metal, fabricated, machined or plated components, or industrial
manufacturing generally.
Plex experience is a plus.
Landed cost work: freight-in allocation, import duties, HTS codes, country of origin.
Time studies or engineered labor standards.
Costing for multi-location or multi-entity manufacturers, including post-acquisition cost
harmonization.
Power BI for variance and margin dashboards.
Experience with US GAAP inventory rules (ASC 330) and capitalizing variances. .
