Analyzes and reports on project costs for utility engineering and construction projects, tracking budgets, forecasts, and change orders to improve financial performance.
PMA is currently seeking a Cost Analyst for an exclusive assignment to work on a portfolio of high-profile utility projects. Our Cost Analyst position is an excellent entrée into project controls and project management.
The Cost Analyst supports cost management and project controls activities across engineering and construction projects. This role works with cross-functional teams to analyze costs, prepare reports, support budgeting and forecasting, and identify opportunities to improve project cost performance. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial insights effectively.
Position Responsibilities
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost performance.
- Review change orders, contracts, and payment applications.
- Perform cost analysis, variance reporting, and earned value tracking.
- Develop cost estimates and supports risk-based cost strategies.
- Prepare and present cost reports and project cashflows to project stakeholders.
- Support the use of project controls and cost management systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
- 0+ Years of experience in some combination of cost control or financial data analysis required.
- Experience with MS Word and PowerPoint preferred.
- Experience with databases and reporting preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Interest in construction, engineering, and project controls.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered in lieu of stated minimum qualifications.
