Cost Analyst

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Financial Analyst to join our growing Finance team. This role will play a critical part in understanding, managing, and reducing costs across the business while supporting informed decision-making through detailed financial analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Operations, Procurement, Service Delivery, and Leadership teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve profitability, and ensure financial efficiency across all departments.

Nostra has offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast. This role will be based in our Dublin office.

Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis & Cost Control:
  • Analyse operational and departmental costs to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct regular reviews of direct and indirect business expenses.
  • Monitor cost allocation methodologies and ensure accuracy across the organisation.
  • Develop reporting frameworks to track cost performance against budget and forecast.
Cost Reduction Initiatives:
  • Identify, recommend, and help implement cost-saving opportunities across the business.
  • Partner with department managers to challenge expenditure and improve operational efficiency.
  • Track and report on realised savings from cost optimisation projects.
  • Review supplier expenditure and support vendor cost negotiations where required.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Produce detailed monthly cost reports and variance analysis.
  • Analyse actual costs against budget and forecast, identifying key drivers and trends.
  • Support management reporting with actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Provide profitability analysis by department, service line, customer, or project.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.
  • Assist stakeholders with cost modelling and financial planning.
  • Develop forecasting models to improve visibility of future expenditure.
Process Improvement:
  • Review existing financial and operational processes to improve efficiency and control.
  • Assist in implementing systems and reporting enhancements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance operations.
Business Partnership:
  • Work closely with leadership teams to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide financial insights that help drive profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on cost management and business performance.
Requirements:
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience in a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Management Accountant, Financial Analyst, FP&A Analyst, or similar role.
  • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query, and complex formulas.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret large data sets and present meaningful insights.
  • Commercially focused mindset with a passion for improving business performance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
