Location: Bristol/ Hybrid

Travel: Might be required to London or Birmingham 2/3 days a week. All business travel and accommodation expenses are covered.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cost Managerto join a leading consultancy delivering some of the UK's most complex and high-profile infrastructure and energy programmes.

Working across nationally significant projects, you'll play a key role in providing robust cost engineering, forecasting and commercial insight that supports successful project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, growing team where you'll have exposure to major programmes while continuing to develop your technical expertise.

The Role

As a Cost Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate cost planning, forecasting and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with project controls, commercial and programme teams, you'll provide valuable cost intelligence that enables informed decision-making and successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project cost plans, forecasts and budgets
  • Monitor project performance against approved budgets and identify cost trends
  • Deliver accurate cost reporting, variance analysis and forecasting
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to measure project performance
  • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS)
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of cost management systems including PRISM, Oracle, EcoSys, Deltek or similar platforms
  • Produce KPI dashboards and performance reporting using Power BI and other analytical tools
  • Support change control and cost impact assessments
  • Work collaboratively with planning, commercial and project management teams
  • Identify risks, opportunities and potential cost efficiencies throughout project delivery
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and digital innovation within the cost engineering function

About You

You'll already have experience delivering cost engineering services on complex infrastructure, engineering or energy programmes and enjoy working in collaborative project environments.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Cost Engineer within infrastructure, energy, rail, defence or major capital projects
  • Strong understanding of cost planning, forecasting and cost control principles
  • Experience using Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Knowledge of WBS and CBS development
  • Experience using PRISM, Oracle, EcoSys, Deltek or similar cost management systems
  • Good understanding of NEC and/or FIDIC contracts
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Experience producing reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar tools
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance or a related discipline
