ROLE SUMMARY:

The Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support, as directed by the Vice President, Legal & Business Affairs, to various business teams within MSG Entertainment and Sphere Entertainment. Areas of coverage will include Productions, Trademarks, Merchandising, Marketing, Communications, Archives, Guest Services and Ticketing, supporting the companies’ live entertainment businesses and their family of brands, including Sphere, The Wizard of Oz at Sphere, Madison Square Garden, Rockettes, and the Christmas Spectacular.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES SUMMARY:

  • Structure, negotiate and draft, a variety of contracts and other documents in support of the business teams, including production, talent, content creation, equipment, marketing promotion, ticketing, consulting, research, analytics, SaaS platform and tech-related agreements, merchandising, ticket sales and miscellaneous vendor agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and strategic thinking to the Company’s various business teams.
  • Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights, trademark maintenance, licensing, usage and infringements.
  • Advise on advertising, marketing, consumer and entertainment initiatives and materials, including sweepstakes, contests and giveaways, privacy, publicity and intellectual property matters, releases and review of promotional and creative materials.
  • Supervise outside counsel and review and revise work product, as applicable
  • Advise on legal and business risks and issues regarding contracts and business initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Legal education and JD required; licensed to practice law in New York state
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of legal experience; some law firm experience preferred
  • Advanced contract drafting and negotiating skills
  • Knowledge of contract, IP, consumer laws, commercial law and related areas
  • Outstanding prioritization and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible and creative thinker with a collaborative and business-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Leadership ability, self-starter, team player with exceptional judgment

Pay Range
$113,000$190,000 USD
