Creative Designer (11 Months Contract)

As a member of the In-House Creative eCommerce team, the Creative Designer will concept, design and produce engaging creative across print, digital, social, CRM, web, paid media and other eCommerce marketing channels.

You’ll bring strong design thinking and digital-first creative expertise to the team, with the ability to take ideas from concept through execution across static, motion and video formats. You’ll have a strong understanding of how creative needs to adapt across channels and platforms, with particular fluency in social-first content, motion design and video.

We’re looking for a designer who is curious and forward-thinking, someone who stays current on design and social trends, embraces emerging technologies and AI-enabled creative tools, and looks for new ways to make our creative more effective and engaging.

Previous experience in CPG, retail, eCommerce or a fast-paced digital environment is an asset.

Here’s Where You’ll Be Focusing:

Concept and creative development: Interpret creative briefs and translate business objectives, audience needs and project requirements into thoughtful creative concepts and executions. Develop ideas across multiple formats, including digital, social, web, CRM, paid media, print, animation and video.
Motion and video: Concept, edit and produce motion and video content using Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, including social-first video, paid media, animated digital assets and other short-form content.
Social-first creative: Stay current on evolving social platforms, formats, creative trends and audience behaviours. Bring forward relevant ideas and opportunities and translate trends into thoughtful, brand-appropriate creative.
Design and production: Contribute directly to all stages of creative development, including ideation, storyboarding, graphic concepts, design exploration, motion, video editing, adaptation and final production.
AI-enabled creative: Explore and incorporate generative AI and emerging creative technologies into the creative process where appropriate, using these tools to support ideation, creative exploration, content development and production efficiencies.
Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with copywriters, designers, creative leads, marketing teams and other internal stakeholders to deliver cohesive, best-in-class creative.
Brand consistency and quality: Ensure creative adheres to established brand guidelines while maintaining a high standard of craft, accuracy and attention to detail. Conduct quality assurance on creative deliverables prior to final delivery.
Creative innovation: Contribute to the continued evolution of the in-house creative team by bringing forward new ideas, design approaches, tools, technologies and ways of working.
Project and asset management: Manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously, maintaining organized working files and documentation while supporting project tracking through online project management tools.
External production support: Collaborate with external agencies, production partners and suppliers as required to support the development and delivery of final creative assets.

What You Have to Offer:

Undergraduate degree, DEC, certificate or diploma in Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, Digital Design or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional design experience, ideally within an in-house creative team, agency or digital-first environment.
A strong portfolio demonstrating digital-first design, motion and video work across a range of channels. Examples of social and performance marketing creative are strongly preferred.
Proven professional experience using Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, with the ability to create polished motion graphics, edit video and develop engaging short-form content. This is a core requirement of the role.
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, with experience working across digital and print applications.
Strong understanding of digital and social design, including platform-specific formats, responsive design principles and how creative needs to adapt across different channels and placements.
Demonstrated awareness of current social media trends, platforms and creative best practices, with an understanding of what makes content engaging and effective across social channels.
Familiarity with generative AI and emerging creative tools, with demonstrated curiosity about how new technologies can be thoughtfully incorporated into creative workflows.
Strong creative instincts and the ability to move quickly from brief to concept while maintaining a high level of craft and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities and demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A collaborative, curious and proactive mindset, with a willingness to experiment, learn and contribute ideas that push the work and the creative team forward.
