Creative Director, Brand and Design

Summary:

The Creative Director, Brand and Design is responsible for leading the visual brand and creative design function across Archwell Capital and its operating companies. This hands-on role combines graphic and brand design with UI/UX expertise to deliver high-quality creative work across digital, web, presentation, print, employer brand, and internal communications. The Creative Director will extend and govern the existing brand identity across a growing portfolio of companies, establish scalable creative standards and processes, and serve as the primary authority for brand consistency. This position will initially operate as an individual contributor while providing creative direction to internal partners, agencies, and freelancers, with the opportunity to build a design team as business needs evolve.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Brand Architecture and Governance

  • Extend the existing Archwell Capital brand identity into a cohesive portfolio-wide brand system, defining where the parent and operating company brands align, where they remain distinct, and how each is expressed.

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve brand guidelines to support consistent application across the organization.

  • Establish standards and processes for integrating newly acquired companies into the broader brand architecture.

  • Partner with Legal on trademark, brand protection, and related brand governance matters.

  • Serve as the primary reviewer for brand consistency across materials produced by Archwell Capital and its operating companies.

Employer Brand and Internal Communications

  • Partner closely with People and Culture to support employer brand, employee communications, and culture initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain the visual identity for the employer brand, including recruiting materials, careers content, and candidate-facing assets.

  • Design internal communications materials, including town halls, all-hands meetings, executive communications, employee intranet content, and culture and recognition campaigns.

  • Create onboarding and employee-experience materials across Archwell Capital and its operating companies.

Web and Digital

  • Design end-to-end digital and web experiences, including information architecture, wireframes, user interface design, and responsive design.

  • Partner with Technology and development teams to translate designs into production and remain engaged throughout implementation and quality assurance.

  • Incorporate search optimization and AI discoverability considerations into digital design in partnership with Marketing.

Creative Function Development

  • Establish and manage processes for creative intake, prioritization, project workflow, and turnaround expectations.

  • Manage the organization’s design tools and related licenses, including Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Brief, direct, and review the work of external agencies, freelancers, and other creative partners.

  • Help build and scale the internal design function as organizational and portfolio needs grow.

  • This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports but may provide guidance, leadership, or training to others.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Interactive Design, User Experience Design, Fine Arts, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in brand, marketing, digital, or product design, including experience as an Art Director, Design Lead, Senior Designer, or similar role with responsibility for creative quality and direction.

  • Demonstrated expertise across both graphic/brand design and UI/UX design, supported by a portfolio showing significant depth in each discipline.

  • Portfolio demonstrating experience building or substantially evolving brand identity systems, as well as delivering high-quality marketing and digital design.

  • Experience extending an established brand system across multiple brands while maintaining a consistent shared standard.

  • Strong knowledge of typography, color, layout, and visual design principles, with the ability to clearly explain design decisions to non-design stakeholders.

  • Full-cycle web and UI/UX design experience, including information architecture, wireframing, user interface design, responsive design, and partnership with engineering teams through implementation and quality assurance.

  • Advanced proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop multiple high-quality creative concepts quickly and move selected concepts through final execution.

  • Ability to operate independently as the primary design authority, exercising sound judgment regarding creative quality, brand consistency, and appropriate levels of execution.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting a parent company and its subsidiaries or another multi-brand portfolio environment.

  • Experience with employer brand and/or internal communications design.

  • Experience with motion design, animation, and video.

  • Experience directing and managing external agencies, freelancers, or other creative partners.

  • Executive-level presentation design experience.

  • Experience within financial services, insurance, real estate, or another regulated industry.
