Credit Analyst II - Healthcare/G&I

Summary

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Credit Analyst II - Healthcare/G&I based in the United States.

The Credit Analyst II will partner closely with Portfolio Managers to support commercial credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and risk management activities.
This role combines financial analysis, credit modeling, covenant monitoring, and portfolio management in a collaborative banking environment.
You will progressively take ownership of underwriting processes, developing the ability to complete transactions from beginning to end with limited oversight.
The position also involves preparing credit documentation, risk assessments, portfolio reviews, and analytical materials that support informed client and lending decisions.
You will use financial and risk models to identify potential issues, evaluate borrower performance, and recommend appropriate actions.
The role offers opportunities to work across multiple credit activities while developing deeper expertise in healthcare and G&I commercial banking.
Success requires sound financial judgment, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Accountabilities:

  • Partner with Portfolio Managers on credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring, financial analysis, and other analytical activities.
  • Perform critical analysis to identify risks, issues, documentation needs, and potential obstacles that could affect client expectations or portfolio performance.
  • Enter and maintain credit information in banking systems accurately and consistently, with minimal errors.
  • Prepare risk-rating scorecards and tickler-event analyses, interpret results, and recommend appropriate follow-up actions in collaboration with Portfolio Managers.
  • Develop and use risk models, projection models, and Probability of Default (PD) models with appropriate oversight and assumptions.
  • Identify required monitoring activities, verify financial covenants, update covenant calculations, and track outstanding or overdue compliance items.
  • Review covenant compliance certificates and reporting to assess borrower performance, identify exceptions, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Work with credit teams to review completed financial spreads, determine necessary adjustments, and ensure the accuracy and quality of credit analysis.
  • Prepare portfolio management analyses and preliminary recommendations using relevant credit-service reporting and risk-monitoring tools.
  • Prepare ALSR reports, Credit Approval Memos (CAMs), renewals, and other credit documentation accurately and with increasing independence.
  • Complete underwriting processes for transactions within the role's scope, progressively requiring less oversight as proficiency develops.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis and help prepare Portfolio Reviews ahead of client meetings.
  • Support Portfolio Managers with special projects, remedial actions, issue resolution, and escalation of questions or disputes when appropriate.
  • Contribute to team development by assisting with the training of new employees when needed.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
    • At least 2 years of commercial banking experience.
    • Strong understanding of financial and risk analysis, including the ability to develop and interpret financial models.
    • Knowledge of commercial banking products and services, corporate business structures, and relevant legal documentation.
    • Working knowledge of U.S. government regulations and the regulatory environment affecting commercial banking.
    • Familiarity with local or regional markets is preferred but not required.
    • Proficiency with internal banking applications and Microsoft Office, including the ability to work effectively with financial and analytical data.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate credit findings, risks, and recommendations clearly.
    • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
    • Comfortable working collaboratively with Portfolio Managers, credit teams, and other stakeholders while also taking ownership of independent assignments.
    • Strong judgment and accountability, with a commitment to identifying, escalating, monitoring, and managing risk appropriately.
