Credit Specialist

Come Make an Impact on Millions of Brazilians! At RecargaPay, we're on a mission to deliver the best payment and credit experience for Brazilian consumers and small businesses — building a digital ecosystem where the banked and unbanked connect in one place, with payments, credit cards, and personal loans. We serve over 10 million users, process more than USD 6 billion annually, and have been profitable since 2022. We are an AI-first, 100% remote team, scaling in the rapidly changing Brazilian financial market. We value autonomy, ownership, and a bias for action. We're looking for people who are curious, hands-on, and driven by impact — who want to solve real problems, work with strong teams, and rethink what's possible. If you're ready to do your best work, at scale, with purpose — this is your place.

Position Overview

The Credit Specialist will serve as the go-to technical reference for credit policy design and decisioning across RecargaPay's Loans and CCRP portfolios — an individual contributor role with high strategic impact, translating data, regulatory constraints, and business strategy into policies that run at scale. We're looking for someone who combines sharp analytical thinking with a strong drive to execute: someone who builds the frameworks, tests the hypotheses, and owns outcomes end-to-end, with the autonomy to add value across both products. This is a 100% remote role, working closely with the VP of Credit & Collections, Data Science, Product, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and monitor credit origination and limit policies for Loans and Credit Card — eligibility, limit-setting, pricing rules, cross-product fallback logic, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Propose and continuously iterate on credit rules, driving testing cycles from hypothesis through to rollout or kill decision. • Analyze A/B tests and policy experiments, generating insights to support data-driven decisions.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses — vintage curves, roll rates, segment performance — with quantified risk/return trade-offs.
  • Monitor portfolio indicators and reports, and prepare regulatory submissions for external stakeholders (BCB, rating agencies).
  • Collaborate with Product on strategies that reduce friction and increase conversion.
  • Partner with Data Science to track and challenge model performance, flagging drift and data quality issues.
  • Maintain credit decision framework documentation — policy rationale, change history, and override logic.
  • Serve as technical reference in the Credit team: review analyses, challenge assumptions, raise standards.
  • Leverage AI tools and automation to enhance analysis and policy simulation.

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years in credit risk, with meaningful exposure to consumer lending and credit cards at a fintech, digital bank, or SCD/SCFI.
  • Demonstrated ownership of credit policy design — writing, implementing, and iterating on decisioning rules in production.
  • SQL and Python, with comfort working on large datasets (Databricks or equivalent).
  • Solid working knowledge of Brazilian credit regulation: CMN resolutions, BCB framework, CMN 2.682 / IFRS 9.
  • AI fluency: LLMs, copilots, and automation in a professional context.
  • Ability to produce policy documents, risk memos, and regulatory responses that hold up under scrutiny.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in horizontal, matrixed structures.

We are a trilingual team with executive leadership operating across English, Spanish, and Portuguese on a daily basis. We value professionals who can communicate effectively in all three languages at a working/executive level.

  • Portuguese: fluency required — primary language for day-to-day team communication, documentation, and deliverables.
  • English: strongly preferred — external reporting, partners, vendors, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Spanish: strongly preferred — partner teams and cross-functional leadership.

Soft Skills

  • Analytical and detail-oriented — translates complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Ownership, autonomy, and accountability — tracks policies through implementation and monitoring; raises a flag when performance drifts.
  • Influence without authority — builds consensus with data, not hierarchy.
  • Strategic mindset — sees the portfolio-level picture while managing the decisioning details.
  • Adaptability and continuous learning — especially in AI tools and methods.

Benefits

  • Competitive and market-aligned salary.
  • Remote work — wherever you are, you’re part of the team!
  • Home office allowance through a monthly deposit in the RecargaPay app.
  • Health and dental plans with no co-pay.
  • Life insurance.
  • Flexible meal allowance (via Flash).
  • TotalPass membership to take care of your health.
