Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Crisis Assessment Specialist, you will assess clients in consultation with emergency department personnel, psychiatrists, clinicians, and attending physicians, providing critical recommendations for disposition.

Every day you will conduct face-to-face and/or tele-health triage evaluations, respond to patient/family complaints, assist in managing all assessment records, and perform statistical analysis to ensure effective crisis intervention.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong clinical assessment skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse healthcare professionals, a compassionate and calm demeanor in crisis situations, and the capacity to manage detailed records and perform statistical analysis.

  • Provides quality and timely assessment and referral services.
  • Develops and offers safe and clinically appropriate disposition recommendations to psychiatrists, emergency department physicians, attending physicians within hospital, other mental health clinicians, managed care representatives and clients.
  • Appropriately assesses suicide, violence, and elopement potential.
  • Applies knowledge of state mental health statutes criteria pertaining to involuntary holds.
  • Assures the continuity of patient care upon completion of the assessment by assisting in the implementation of the referral and resource recommendations.
  • Responds to potentially dangerous situations with low-level interventions and verbal deescalation to avoid harm to patients and staff.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Nursing or related behavioral health field
  • Two (2) years of experience in direct behavioral health clinical care
  • Competence with DSM diagnostic criteria and treatment planning
  • Demonstrates clinical and ethical professionalism, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
  • Adequate and available transportation for response to various evaluation sites.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker in state of employment; disciplines: Clinical Psychologist (PSY), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriageand Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CHMC) (Utah only), Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (RN CNS) or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (RN NP, Psych Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), and/or Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC).Allowable: Current license in the state of employment in one of the following disciplines: Certified Social Worker (CSW), Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACHMC), Associate level MentalHealth Therapy License, and Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, if proper supervision is required and can be met by hospital staff (Utah only).

Preferred

  • At least one (1) year of crisis experience
