Critical Facilities Engineer

Position Overview

The Critical Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical data center facility infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and environmental systems. This role ensures that facility systems operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with established operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Operations

  • Support day-to-day operation of critical data center facility infrastructure.

  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical, mechanical, cooling, and environmental systems.

  • Monitor facility systems and identify abnormal conditions or potential risks.

  • Provide onsite support during scheduled maintenance, testing, and change activities.

  • Ensure facility systems operate in accordance with approved operational procedures.

Maintenance Coordination

  • Coordinate with data center providers and vendors on Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) maintenance activities.

  • Review maintenance schedules and coordinate activities to minimize operational disruption.

  • Support maintenance planning, implementation, and follow-up activities.

  • Monitor vendor maintenance activities and ensure work is performed in accordance with approved procedures.

Incident & Risk Management

  • Respond to facility-related incidents, including power failures, cooling issues, alarms, and other system abnormalities.

  • Perform initial troubleshooting and assessment of facility-related issues.

  • Escalate incidents promptly to the relevant teams and support incident resolution.

  • Participate in post-incident reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Operational Compliance & Documentation

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Method of Procedures (MOP), and applicable safety guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of facility operations, maintenance activities, incidents, and changes.

  • Support audit and compliance requirements.

  • Ensure all maintenance and operational activities comply with site safety and operational requirements.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Provide operational updates on facility activities, maintenance, incidents, and changes.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including data center operations, facility providers, vendors, and regional teams.

  • Support facility capacity planning for space, power, and cooling requirements.

  • Participate in operational briefings and coordination meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.

  • Experience working in data center facilities, critical infrastructure, or building systems environments.

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, HVAC, cooling systems, and facility monitoring systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and coordination skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict operational and safety procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and escalate operational issues when required.
