The Opportunity
Vertu Group is continuing to grow, with our Crushing & Screening Division taking off
Following our appointment as the SANY distributor for crushing and screening equipment, the first pre-sold machines are about to arrive in Australia, with a strong pipeline of customers already established across quarrying, civil construction, mining and recycling.
We're looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician / Leading Hand to join us as our:
Crushing & Screening Technical Lead – Product Support
This is a unique opportunity to become the technical authority for a new product line within Vertu.
You'll be hands-on, working on some of the latest mobile crushing and screening equipment in the market, while also helping us establish the technical, service and commissioning standards that will support the product range as it grows.
This isn't a workshop management or desk-based role. You'll be on the tools and in the field, leading by example and working alongside our growing technician team.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for the technical support of SANY crushing and screening equipment across Australia, including:
Commissioning and setting up new crushing and screening equipment
Pre-delivery inspections and customer handovers
Diagnosing complex hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and control system faults
Servicing, repairing and maintaining mobile crushing and screening plant
Replacing and managing wear components including jaw dies, blow bars, mantles, concaves, screen media and conveyor components
Attending breakdowns and working towards a first-time fix
Providing technical advice to customers on machine setup, application and maintenance
Leading and coordinating technicians and apprentices as the team grows
Reviewing completed work and maintaining high workmanship standards
Providing technical input into parts and wear-component requirements
Supporting warranty investigations and claims
Working directly with SANY's technical and product teams
Developing service procedures, troubleshooting guides and technical training
Training customers and developing the capability of the wider Vertu team
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced Crushing & Screening Technician / Leading Hand who understands the demands of quarrying, recycling, civil and mining applications.
You will have:
A trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant, Plant Mechanics, Fitting & Turning or similar
Proven experience working on mobile crushing and screening equipment
Strong practical knowledge of jaw crushers, impact crushers, cone crushers and screening equipment
Experience with wear components, including jaw dies, blow bars, mantles, concaves, screen media, liners and conveyor components
Strong hydraulic and electrical fault-finding capability
Experience diagnosing and repairing complex mobile plant
Experience with commissioning, machine setup and performance troubleshooting
The ability to work independently in quarry, mining, civil and recycling environments
Strong customer communication and reporting skills
A current Australian driver's licence
The ability to lead by example and maintain high technical and workmanship standards
We'd particularly value experience with:
Tracked mobile crushers and screens
Closed-side setting and chamber configuration
Crusher wear management
Screen media selection and replacement
Conveyor systems and tracking
Hydraulic and lubrication systems
Machine control / PLC diagnostics
Diesel-electric or hybrid crushing equipment
Commissioning and customer operator training
Leading Hand or Senior Technician experience
The type of person we're looking for
We're looking for someone who already knows crushing and screening.
You don't need to know the SANY product range — we'll provide the manufacturer training — but you do need to understand how crushing and screening equipment works, how to diagnose faults and, importantly, how to get a machine producing for a customer.
You should be someone who is methodical, technically strong and confident making decisions in the field. Someone who can get stuck into a breakdown, diagnose the problem properly, lead other technicians when required and communicate directly with the customer.
